They fly during the day? Fantastic photo!

i was the first to report seeing a snowy owl in Arizona many years ago. It was during a huge snow storm in the north-central mountains. One flew about 10 feet in front of my brother and me, but since we were not known at the time, the sighting was never considered credible. However, just a few years later, i reported a flock of roseate spoonbills at a small reservoir in south-central Arizona. That sighting was verified and as it was the first sighting of them in the state in over 30 years and furthest north they had ever been found in the state, i received credit in the national Audubon report for the year.

Rosesroses, as cold as it is today, they could get pretty far South before they felt they were out of their climate area! It is 12 degrees in Tennessee.
Have a very happy New Year!

I have heard that every few years they migrate south from Alaska. One has been sighted in Michigan this year....a rare occurance.
