This was the opening salute. The central officer held his cavalry sword straight up in front of his forehead ... but I wasn't able to capture that moment.

Just a note to your last comment...Each rider is allowed two years only with the Musical Ride and they love to travel worldwide. The riders were miffed at Expo 86 as that meant they were stationed in Vancouver for a full five of their 24 months...can you imagine how tortuous that must have been? :)

I watched the display at the Royal Windsor Horse Show last year, during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, they were magnificent!

Yes, I saw them. I hope you will be able to see them in one of these pictures ... but not this one.

Suzy, these HORSES ( !! ) each have a maple leaf design on their left rump. It is not a brand or even a tatoo.
