Thanks Robbie.This one brought back memories. When I first moved to California they were plentiful and many restaurants had it on the menu. You could see them at low tide well attached to rocks.Overfishing and poaching ruined everything.

so that is an abalone, it looks like a clam shell. I ate abalone in San Francisco years ago, probably not the red shell ones.
