I was there this last winter standing under this same tree. Its chained off. A lady was in a group coming down from the top a couple of years ago and slipped, fell, and died. Its been off limits since then. Its a wonderful world heritage site, though.
We visited this site in 2000 some of our party climbed to the top. We heard they stopped allowing anyone to climb after 2000 because of vandals marking on the walls.
