Buckingham Palace is only open when the family is at Balmoral...end of August and September...at least that was the way it was with the Queen. With Charles living at Clarence House perhaps they'll extend the times as it is VERY lucrative.

alliebono

I'll make it a point to visit in the winter then. Thanks for warning me :-)

gemstone

Thank you, Allie. It's a bit unfocused as we were holding up pedestrians. Touring the State rooms was great but sooo crowded and sooo hot...no air conditioning...or Charles had turned it off! LOL

alliebono

I haven't been to Buckingham Palace yet - actually I haven't been to London at all for the last 10yrs!!! Used to go 3 times a year for most of my life!!
Like this angle shot! :-)

irmachac

Yes sometimes it is. We have to enjoy all the beautiful moments :-))

gemstone

Probably once-in-a-lifetime. ;)))

irmachac

It had to be a beautiful experience!

Queen Elizabeth was at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on holidays when we were there, but we did tour the State Rooms of Buckingham Palace...and had lunch in the garden cafe. They also had a display of some of the Queen's dresses...including her Coronation gown...gorgeous...and probably very heavy with all the beading. :)

irmachac

Do you see a queen?

gemstone

Thank you, Irena. :)

irmachac

Beautiful ☺

You're very welcome, claire...glad to have you along on our journey. :)))

When I saw the title and looked at the picture I just knew it was on the east side of Buckingham Palace, I just couldn't remember the queen's name. I was here about 1964. Thanks for posting and letting me remember trips from many many years ago.
