Lovely memories! My grandma would order me 2 or 3 outfits of pretty clothing for Santa to deliver so we would go through the catalog every Christmas for about 5-6 years. Thank you for sharing!
Tampagirl . . . . I used to make paperdolls out of catalogs, too . . . only in the 1940's!
These catalogs were put to good use by us kids lol! Not only were they wish books to look at and dream, but afterwards I used to cut out the models and use them as paperdolls! And yes, Lulu, we also did a trading sort of game also! And, yes, carol, I wanted just about everything in the catalog. I still like catalogs to this day :)
Boy, that brings back memories . . . .I used to get as excited as my kids did when this arrived! Christmas before the internet!
TG, the odds are that I held a copy of this catalog in my ten year-old hands! My brothers and sister and I used to play a game where the things on the left page were mine and the things on the opposite page were the other person's and we would trade back and forth. We learned reading and 'rithmetic and used it to strike the best deals...of course, this was before the screen era! My father was a no television in his house kind of fellow. Little did we know how smart he was...bless his soul. Thanks for the memory of seasons past...
Loved this one TG! Do you remember spending hours and hours going through the "Christmas Catalog"? I would put markers on my favorite pages (which was most of the catalog). :)
