I've never actually heard of them being raised as a pet Heidi. I know people have regular birds who come in and sit on veranda rails to be fed - but they are wild birds, free to come & go. Thanks Meadowhawk - I agree!!
Have you ever heard this one? "Kookaburra sits in the old oak tree; merry, merry bird of the bush is he; laugh, Kookaburra laugh! Kookaburra joy you life must be!" (A song kids sing about the Kookaburra.)
Thanks dondi. I bet pg - they're LOUD!! Thanks lyndee - they belong in the Kingfisher family. Thanks chickie!! In the open air it sounds about twice as loud!! Thanks pumpkin! Thanks Ann - it's amazing where that song has spread to!!
"----eating all the gum drops he can see. Laugh, kookaburra,-------". Thanks, Robin. I'm not from Australia, never even been there, but I've always liked that song, & he is a beauty............
No Deborah :)) He's just a beautiful bird!! We have some nesting near our place - but not the Blue-winged variety - & they laugh most days. Thanks. I agree chookie. Now I'll be humming that tune :))) - thanks.
