Yep, saw it - so happy!!! Thanks Heidi:-))

Surreal_Heidi

Aishah left a message on one of Tugman's puzzles.

ringleader

Kathy, I just sent her an email I included my telephone number. I also suggested maybe her granddaughter could leave a message on her most recent puzzle - this one. We'll see what happens.

katwoody99

Hi Ardy! Did you see Aishah online today? Pat (wjwitch) and I haven't seen her, but have gotten an email to her via Stefan. Let us know if you had correspondence with her on another jig!

ringleader

Hi Aishah. I've had you on my prayer list since we talked on none of my puzzles a few weeks ago. I've been wondering how you are. When I noticed you had signed on today I came and have been reading all the comments. Are you going to be able to give an update since your appointment? You remain in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs.

It's 10:55 pm here, I'm listening to Tosca [the first opera I saw live] and wondering just how things went or are still there Aishahm.

katwoody99

Thanks Phyllis - you said it all quite well! Great weekend to you both, and we'll be thinking of you Monday, Aishah!

cilycoed

It does sound as though we all worry about each other doesn't it! how is that pain level Aishahm? Not long now before you see the specialist, here's hoping he will have some answers for you. I don't ever remember my grandparents having the health issues we have today. My grandma Robinson died at 72, my present age, granddad was a little older and my welsh grandma died at 42, pneumonia, Pop was 77, my parents outlive them all. But they never seemed to be ill or complain about aches and pains, probably had them though:-)

It's colder here today, and I forgot to but the fire-starters, which means we'll have fires soon [when I get the FS that is] Carol, my sister said they still had snow in her year last week [Chicago] and Len's family who live north of Edmonton have had rather cold weather I believe.

Well I have to go and sort out tea, roast chicken tonight with oodles of veggies for me. Take care both of you, will be thinking of you on Monday Aishahm, till then blessings from down here x

aishahm

That's good to hear about Len. You both have had me worried about you. It was 70°F here on Tuesday but it's dropping into the 20's at night still. I also saw a forecast for a little snow over the weekend. For now, I'm going to pretend I didn't see any such forecast. I'm hoping that if I ignore it, it won't happen. LOL! Have a wonderful day and keep warm, Phyllis. : )

Aishahm, PC working right now!

Rug burns are not nice, so I hope you're feeling better tonight and get to have a good nights sleep. I have two new knees, well they're almost 10 years old really] and the pain before I had surgery was awful, so I do understand what strong pain is like and how debilitating it can be, both for the body but also emotionally. It sure can take a toll on our everyday lives. Hang in there my friend or as I would say to John 'fy ffrind'.

It looks to me that you have both Kate and me thinking and upholding you. A three strand cord is not easily broken!

I have to tell you both that I had my electric blanket on 2 last night. It's colder in the morning although the days are beautiful. Len has been re-potting some pansy seedlings ready for when the gardening lady comes next week. I shall have to get more seeds for him, he's finding it quite enjoyable. His dad would be pleased. He was a farmer and Len hated anything to do with garden or land [he was a teacher] but now he has found the same pleasure his father had. I am well pleased! Ok you two, I'm going to make a coffee and watch some TV.
Blessings and love to you both - Phyllis x

katwoody99

So sorry, Aishah - thinking about you!
Thanks Phyllis - glad you can visit with us these days! I love your strong positive outlook!
Hugs and prayers, dear friends!

aishahm

Thanks so much, Phyllis. The nights are rough for me. Last night, I was having trouble sleeping. Then fell when I got up to use the bathroom. Fortunately, I only have rug burns to my knees. My head only hit the mattress. Hopefully, today will be a better day. : )

Hi Aishahm, It's obvious that although we have similar conditions, you have a better result from using Gabapentin, it's the better medication for you than it was for me. I get that bad itch too Aishahm, it's sometimes so bad I cannot sleep easily, but unlike you although my legs are sore when I go to bed I'm not woken up with pain, I think that must be awful, a good night's sleep is imperative when we have a condition like we have.

I had bad shingles 18 months ago and still have the post hepatic pain, they give me Chloroform and asprin solution which I keep in the frig, it seems to work better when cold. I wonder if something like that might help us both with the itch? My BP is ok, usually 120/80, my GP says often how surprised he is. It always goes down when I'm in hospital though, gets quite low!

Well dear Aishahm, It's 12:10am, I've had a busy day and another one tomorrow as well, you take care of yourself as much as you possibly can, and I'll put you on the PC in the morning.

Blessings and even more coming your way... you too Kate - Phyllis x

aishahm

Thanks, Nicky. : )

A bright and beautiful puzzle.

aishahm

Thanks, Kathy and Phyllis.

My PCP (which you call a GP) would prefer I take no pills at all, but he has given in when it comes to what my neuro prescribes. The gabapentin has been working somewhat well for my legs which is where the neuropathy really effects. I take a double dose at bedtime to get me through the night. Otherwise, I would never sleep. It doesn't do much for the my hands and arms which is why the doctor thinks the upper body stuff is stenosis related.

They had been refusing me pain medication until I see the surgeon, but the pain was so bad last night that I ended up going to the emergency room. They gave me enough pain meds to last me until I see the surgeon. However, I was itching (but no hives) for quite a while after taking what they sent me home with, so I may be slightly allergic to it. As long as it doesn't go beyond itching, then the relief I get is well worth dealing with the itching. It's pretty strong stuff though and I certainly won't be able to function much when I do take it, so I'm going to try to take it only when the pain becomes intolerable.

I guess you could chew the licorice root, but I boil it into tea. One of my husband's friends is a trained herbalist. He helps me look for alternatives to medications whenever possible and my PCP liked that so much that he now refers other patients to him. You don't have high blood pressure do you, Phyllis. Licorice root is very dangerous for anyone with high blood pressure. I always have to be very careful that my husband doesn't drink it.

No problem with the PC, Phyllis. Thank you for thinking of me.

cilycoed

Aha! Gabapentin, I was on that and then stopped taking it, plus a few other drugs that I felt were doing me no good. I eventually confessed all the my GP, he looked at me and said, "well, you look ok" and that was that and I haven't had any more of that kind of medication. It didn't help my peripheral neuropathy at all. HOWEVER, Aishahm, we have similar but not the same and it may work for you. I sure hope it does, the pins and needles is 24/7 but I hope that like me when you get to bed it doesn't bother you.

That's a really low BP and I understand why you fall, it must be very inconvenient, quite apart for the injuries you sustain when you do fall. Licorice root, is that the root that one can chew? I remember that, getting it from the chemist, when I was a child in Wales. I sometimes buy the licorice tea for a treat!

Remember that it doesn't define you, or who you are. Aishahm, I am the co-ordinator for our church 'Ladies Prayer Chain' might I put your name and outline of your state of health on it please. We don't put anyone's name on unless we ask them first, except when we get calls and people ask to go on the chain. It's highly confidential and all they will know is, well what I know really, that your name is Aishahm and you need help because of your health condition. Let me know, it would be my great pleasure to have our PC intercede for you.

Hi Kate nice to hear from you too, hope you're well and looking forward to spring, there must surely be signs of it now? Although my sister in Chicago rang last Friday and she said that they still have snow:-( I really think we should have coffee together one day:-)

Blessings to you both and hugs as well.

katwoody99

Continuing to send hugs and prayers your way, Aishah.

Hello Phyllis, great hearing from you!

aishahm

Thanks so much, Phyllis. The autonomic nervous systems controls many involuntary body functions such as blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, blood sugar, and more. The blood pressure is the biggest issue because when it plummets, I usually go down and I usually lose consciousness. This last time my blood pressure was 75/41 when I went down. They have a medication out there to raise bp, but it had horrible side effects: slurred speech, heart palpitations, severe headache, tremors and so on, not to mention it was $403 per month and not covered by my insurance. Now I use licorice root that I boil into a tea. It normally does a pretty good job keeping my bp up and doesn't have all the side effects. This time a new medication caused diuresis and I got dehydrated which dropped my bp. I also take neurontin (aka gabapentin) to help me with the pins and needles and burning sensations that I get from my knees down.

The stenosis is the abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal. It is more common to happen in the back, but mine is in the neck. There are 7 vertebrae in the neck. My spinal canal narrows at both the C5 & C6 which are closer to the base of the neck. My neuro said they often try non-surgical treatments for up to 6 months, but that in more severe case like mine, they may choose to operate right away. I'll know more once I see the neurosurgeon next Mondah.

S'mae Aishahm, I've just had a look at the Autonomic Neuropathy. The causes are similar to mine, I see there is Amyloidosis and funny protein things. These autoimmune disorders are not easy to deal with at all, so I utterly understand some of what you are experiencing. I don't have falls, though I could if I wasn't careful, the weakness in hands and arms I fully get. My Rheumatologist gets me to close my eyes and he puts things onto my palm to see if I can tell what it /they are. Don't always get it right either.

I've had to give away my silicone cookware and buy the usual Le Creuset cookware as it's firmer and doesn't bend or I'd be dropping the cookware. I used to burn myself a lot as well. My GP gives me Amitriptyline for the neuropathy pain, just upped my dose this am[oh joy!] Hang in there Aishahm, I was told this autoimmune thing won't kill me and perhaps by talking about it all helps, we realise that we are not alone. No more falls eh! I don't know very much about the Spinal Stenosis, and hope the Neuro can help you. Sending a heap of love your way - Phyllis

aishahm

Hi, Phyllis. It's so good to hear from you. Hope you and Len are well or at least as well as possibleI do believe we get freesias, though it' not something I've planted myself. Ardy (Ringleader) is probably much more capable of answering flower-related questions.

I have been suffering for some time with Autonomic Neuropathy. One of the symptoms is orthostatic hypotension. When my blood pressure drops dramatically, I frequently fall. Not exactly sure which fall did it, but now I have Cervical Spinal Stenosis at the C5-C6. This is causing lots of muscle weakness in my arms, hands and fingers as well as some other issues. I'm having trouble gripping and holding onto things, even typing and writing. About a week ago, I fell at home and hit my head hard enough to require an overnight stay at the hospital. The pain has been quite bad ever since. This is why I am going to see the NS. I want to explore my options. They cannot fix the neurpathy, but I'm hoping they can fix the stenosis. I'm not looking forward to what is mostly likely going to be spine surgery, but if they can't fix it soon, then I worry that I won't be able to Jigidi much longer. I had planned to fully retire at the end of the school year, retirement came early.

On a good note, all of are pregnant daughters/granddaughters have had there children and everyone is well. Take care. : )

Hi Aishahm, Yes it must be as it's cooler now, and the nights are drawing in quite quickly as well. I've noticed a few trees looking like they're going to shed their summer coats too. I've got my bulbs ready to plant as well. Do you get Freesias there? I bought 40 bulbs, what a show they'll make next spring.

How are things there, I see you're having issues with your hands, it's most frustrating I know, so I hope the NS can give you some 'good and practical' answers. The 23rd is not so far away. We seem to be managing ok here, still haven't seen the new baby, and haven't you got another GG'child due soon?

Take care and look after yourself - will be thinking of you one the 23rd.
Blessings from me to you - Phyllis

aishahm

Thanks, Ardy. If there are ever any jigs you would like me to make smaller, just let me know. I don't mind at all. I've been resting, but I haven't been able to solve many jigs. My hands are just not working like they should. I see the neurosurgeon on the 23rd and I hope he can help with that issue.

aishahm

Thanks, babeard.

Beautiful tulips, Aishah. They made a lovely puzzle. All of your postings today are lovely. I'd be tempted on more if they were fewer pieces. Take care. Rest properly. ☺ Thanks.
