Yes, Brad, I'm from Michigan too, and I remember those signs. These lug wheels are for going in mushy fields, like the peat moss celery fields around Kalamazoo. Pat.
Back in the '40s in Michigan I remember seeing signs on roads out in the country reading: "Tractors with lugs not allowed." If this is what those signs meant, they certainly were appropriate. It wouldn't have been too difficult to follow the tracks to find out who was responsible for the damage.
