Once a "Northern breeds person", always a Northern breeds person! I grew up with a GOOD German Shepherd and adored him, but saw my first Keeshond and never looked back. As long as I can manage the coats, I'll stay true to my breed. Don't you just love the sense of humor in your dogs? Mine break me up every day. Seal, my little guy, BURPS, audibly, but only after catching your eye to make certain you hear him. He breaks up the classes I teach all the time. Funny kid. Hugs to you and yours, John!

lol, thanks, but we did not name him, Cigar was a rescue dog. We brought him home when he was 8 years old, 3 days away from being euthanized. Chowchows have bad reps, like pit bulls, & he wasn't a cute adorable puppy, so his chances of being adopted was slim to none. My wife & I have raised alpine dogs, mostly chowchows, for 30 years. Not for breeding just as part of the family

Our last 5 dogs have all been rescues. We currently have Deuce, our husky, but we have also raised akita & malamute

Good to hear that! In the 36 years I've been teaching Beginners Obedience classses, I've never had a dog in class named Cigar! A+ for originality!

@PutterDutt he wasn't, he was just a big ol' fluffy marshmallow. all of our dogs have always done very well with our kids, & now our grandkids.

Adorable picture! I hope Cigar wasn't a strong puller! :o)
