yes they had a good night here and gifts of clothing, expect it was getting chilly. there was an R Robinson and a T Robinson on the march but it was not political all they wanted was jobs. A night out would be good for them. they said that the best food they ever had was on this march and one man even sent his meat back home to his family as they hadn't had any for months
Right interesting signage on this pub, June... 'the oldest pub in England', and again the 'trip to Jerusalem'. Yes, their shoes/boots would very and truly be needing the attention of the cobblers. a meal and a gift, after that last place they were shunned in, a happy welcome.
I wish I had know about all this when my dad was alive, it wouldn't surprise me if my granddad Robinson was on this march, he was a right union/labour man. It got him into trouble a fair bit I do know. Music hall too! what fun that would have been.
In Nottingham and Leicester
a co-operative of cobblers
worked all night mending
the men?s boots. They had a
wonderful meal with gifts
and a Music Hall entertainment
