Why are you reporting this puzzle?

I found this butterfly while bird watching in Texas. It is either a Monarch or a Viceroy Butterfly. Usually, only trained observers can make the correct identification. I am not trained enough to discern the slight difference between the two.

olando: Vips, we have found all the heat you have been missing in your weather. The next four days are forecast to be 100 degrees or over. That's 37.7 C. on your scale. We also haven't had a drop of rain for a month and a half. Terry

I thought of that, after I'd sent it out.....(Duh!) If this looked like a small monarch to you, then maybe it was a viceroy.....or just the runt of the mess of eggs laid by the monarch..... I give up!
Have a good evening, you two.

dusty, that would help if I saw the butterfly with wings open and looking from above it. I just have this side angle view and that makes it harder. Terry

I went looking...came up with this:

Hope it helps!

Very beautiful. I like butterflies, but this year I have seen very few. I guess it's because of the weather. July has been cold and rainy, and we haven't had a real summer day. In Denmark they say that if it is 25 degrees C, it's a summer day. It's been the worst July in 38 years. Vips
