Panorama from the oppisite slope.

We took the rack train down to Lauterbrunnen valley station, then the cable car up on the other side.

It only took me 3 months to realize that this is the same small glacier that I saw from the hotel.

And what's more: the tiny speck way left on the horizon is the Sphinx Observatory where we were before.

So the big Aletsch glacier is right on the other side of this mountain, the Jungfrau.

Next time around noboy's going to fool me, I'll be so at home there :-)

One of my very first hikes was with my sister and in the Lake District, a round trip, staying in B&B's. We had some rain, but on the whole we had nice walking weather.
I came down with the chicken pox (I was 26) though, just before we were about to travel back home. The GP I saw told me I was not to travel because I was a danger to the British health. I told him I had probably caught it in Britain anyway. So he said OK. I do not think he would have held us back. We wanted to go because our train and ferry were booked.

Yes, wearing layers does the trick, but I prefer to wear long sleeves and trouser legs rather than use suntan oil.

Definitely!! We used to enjoy weekend breaks at the lake district in UK but most times we got caught in some down pour and I'm not very happy walking when dripping wet!! :-(
Yes, 25 degrees is rather too warm to walk for long stretches but better than rain for sure! I always wear layers with a T shirt underneath when walking - always handy. x

It is a very popular part of Switzerland, Suzy, so I had heard all the names before. But now it all makes sense to me.

We were very fortunate, Allie. Rain one late afternoon when we were already in the train on our way back. I found it a bit too warm, I like to walk at temps around 17 degrees, and some days it went towards 24 and even 25. But better that than rain.

Fool you once, but not a second time!!! You will now be a master at getting around!

Beautiful! What was the weather like overall? Did you have rain?
