I still have my wood waxies hanging up on their pegs, but fell into evil ways with the fish scales. I suppose if I lived somewhere near you, I'd have to go back to purity and drag out the waxes and irons and leathers, but out here on the plains, no one knows the difference.

Don't know how I missed this yesterday, but now i remember why I never got into cross country skiing. Downhill I could just put on my Heads and go. For cross country I had to know what kind of snow we had so I'd know what kind of wax to apply. I figured, like as not when I had all the stuff researched, arranged, and applied, the weather would have changed. Several people told me I was being a sillyass, but I stuck by my story. Thanks, Suzy. ᵔᴗᵔ ♥

I call him "old school", Lunie....but I say that with respect and love. :)

That's a giggle, Laura! Wax is to make you glide, not stop!!!!

laurajane

I remember when my father waxed my skis so much, I couldn't move on the snow. Hahahha

Dilubreuer

Seasoned skier...

We are always ready at a moments notice, Barb. :)

Preparation is quite necessary, Ardy. We couldn't have asked for better conditions. ♥

The only thing we don't have going for us is youth, Shirley. But we slog along. :)

Wow. Those must be treasured skis, Don.

That would be quite the sight, db!!! :)

db66

Slap it on Jim, I want to see you go as fast as those young ones!! ☺

dondi

Historic? You want historic, try my father's wooden skis, which we still have.

Shian2

Well prepared for some fun, Thanks, Suzy.

ringleader

Proper preparation is important. Thanks, Suzy. And you had a good time. ♥

SunnyBarb25

All done now, all ready for the next escapade.....you go, Suzy....LOL

The fact that he knows what he's doing is one reason I keep him around, Pat! :)

Too fast will NOT happen, Patti. LOL

Skis these days could well be mostly waxless, Don. Our skis are probably 30-40 years old. Jim uses maxi-glide wax on them. As you said, it's easy to wax....if someone does it "for " me. Snowshoes are fine too-and if I'm going off on my own I use my shoes.

Jim waxes, Beekay. :)

I had to chuckle when I saw some "kids" (in their 30's) getting ready to ski, racoonstar. The boots are pretty high tech looking now-I can just imagine what they were thinking as they looked at the old people with their almost "historic" equipment.

The waxing makes it much easier to glide, Floyd. And we can use all the help we can get!!!

Gladstone

Proper preparations make using the the skis more pleasurable. Right?
This is part of the fun exercise.

racoonstar

Those are pretty narrow, which means they're cross country skis.

And yes, you wax them, and you also wax downhill skis and snowboards.

Beekay

You wax??

dondi

Hmmm. I thought skis these days were mostly waxless...? Having to choose the right wax for the snow, and putting it on and cleaning it off was one of the reasons I never tried cross-country skiing. Putting on your snowshoes and going - on or off the trail - always seemed so much easier and more direct.

Although, I suppose, if you have someone to do it *for* you... :-)

PLG1958

Ooooh!! Don't go too fast, now! :)

pkin38

He surely knows what to do ... Thanks Suzy
