"Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks, tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, a pool for swimming and hot air ballooning. I'm so glad, dikk. You're most welcome.

Thanks for the memories. Was there in 1969 when I was assigned to the airbase in Niagara Falls with my young family. Brings back what were some good time when we visited the park.

You're most welcome, Dris! And, for any following these posts about Letchworth, I see dris651 has subsequently published a puzzle of the Glen Iris Inn for your viewing/puzzling pleasure!

Oh God, what memories this brings back, staying at the Cherry Suite in the Glen Iris Inn! With it's own balcony overlooking the Middle Falls, it doesn't get any better, at least not for me. A great getaway, if you can swing it. Wonderful place, year round. Thanks for the post, Pat!

You're welcome, Beekay!

I have visited in the summer. Would love to see this autumn view too. Thanks!

It is also very beautiful during the winter months when sections of the various falls freeze over. Lots of deer to be seen as well. I've never been there in the spring, but I'll go out on a limb here ( :-) ) and say this is a lovely state park anytime of year. Also, the Glen Iris Inn, right next to the Genesee River, is very charming.

I was there in May, and it's just as beautiful as October. Well worth the trip!

That's beautiful! I gotta go there some day. Thanks.
