Wel thank you for you compliment. You seems to be a nice person al so. Google translate can writh any language☺☺☺

Sharon72

AnneM57 Your English is very understandable. I could never write in Dutch. How nice that you and Lia got to meet. You both seem like such very nice people.

AnneM57

Hi Sharon.
Lia and I were talking about the building. An old town house where I got married. Lia is staying with her caravan in the naberhood and we met. Writing in English I do not so good, talking is OK. I don't have much time in the evenings, so it's easier for me to write in my own language. I also use google translate like now.

Sharon72

No reason to apologize. Many people write in their native languages on jigidi. I would never expect everyone to write in English. In my early years I was a school librarian, but later I worked as a cataloger for 34 years at Arizona State University Library. I had studied Latin, German, and Spanish. I was expected to be able to catalog materials in any romanized language, with the help of a dictionary if necessary. (We had specialists who cataloged Farsi, Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, etc.) Dutch, Danish, Norwegian always gave me a bit of trouble. I didn't have to read everything--just enough to pick out title, author, basic bibliographic information, and to extract major subjects so as to add subject headings. One of the reasons I enjoy jigidi is learning more about other countries, their people, and their languages. And there is always google translate.

Lia

Sorry Sharon, that AnneM and I wrote each other in Dutch. Not very polite, but I forgot!!

Sharon72

AnneM, you must have some very nice memories of this special building.

Lia

AnneM57

@ Sharon72, I was married here☺☺☺

AnneM57

Sharon: It is indeed a beautiful old building. It has been restored / repaired and modernised several times of course... but I too don't think the modern buildings will last that long!

Sharon72

I find this fascinating. It has its own beauty. Think of the stories it could tell. I wonder how many of our modern buildings will hold up this well.

AnneM57

Ja, dat is um. Hier zijn we getrouwd. Leuk hoor.

ladywil2

Mooi gebouw. Ik had nog nooit van Geervliet gehoord. Moest het even opzoeken op de kaart.

Nice building
