yum, gators.

Donnajames

Yep...that too! *LOL*

(( including removing questionable comments made in the heat of the moment ))

Donnajames

This is just lovely. And we will do all the proper things like cleaning up after ourselves.

Watchman

Are gators welcome?

mauismom

sounds like a great place for the blankets, and some lawn chairs, a few folding tables in case people want to play cards or board games. maybe horseshoes? bring your photo albumns so we can see your families.

msbonne

So it is bondage themed?

robf

Aw, Mischka...
If anyone, it is I who has gone too far.

Heck, ya can't even make out the Space Center to the north, in Cape Canaveral. And that's still well down into Florida.

This is as close to an ideal party place as we're going to find on Earth in our current reality. Well chosen and well described. May the festivities be merry and bright!
And (if I may), what happens in Fuchs, *stays* in Fuchs... so tie on as many as you want, guys & dolls.

Great spot for the party. Can I get there by bus?

msbonne

Looks fine. Is there space for the 4 helicopters I am bringing?

Mischka

@mauismom - Penny, would you suggest that we gather our picnic spots to the north? I promise, under all those huge trees at the top of the photo, it's all grassy banks, where the ducks, geese and other fowl waddle right up to you if you allow them to. I've heard that one responds to its name.

We'll want to put down blankets, but it really is clean grassy area all around the Pond - at least, as clean as the ducks will let it be.

I'm really not giving orders, LOL!

It's a beautiful, grassy, breezy, shady couple of acres, and we can set ourselves up however you like.

OH! I need to mention that the red roof barely visible south of the Pond is a LARGE human-needs place. There are bathrooms, there is a cookery area; it's solid coral rock and very cool underneath.

(If anyone wants to bring small children, then look to the southern area of the park, where there are slides, etc.)

Mischka

@robf - did I go too far? Shall I delete that, ASAP?

Mischka

@mauismom - Oh, Whew! I'm glad you like it!

The area presented to us is, obviously, the sandy volleyball area.

This looks like a blisteringly hot summer day, but you get out of your helicopter and you'll see that it's shady and cool.

We can go into the pond -- oh, the fountain wasn't spouting on this day, that's too bad - it's just a refreshing area for mind and body.

mauismom

the perfect spot!

robf

I can see the CN Tower on the horizon!

Mischka

This is looking from south to north.

That gray strip at the top, partially obscured by trees, is US-1. (Listen for a moment. You hear how quiet it is, because of all the trees? Lol.)

The Pond is maybe 30 feet, across and down, from the Highway, but if you pull your truck off the highway and pull up onto the grass, you won't believe how quiet it instantly becomes.

My own house is to the east - to the right - I guess about a mile if I were to walk along the US1 sidewalk.

From above - naturally - it is hard to realize how beautifully SHADY the park is, and how cool the breezes are.

Those roofs you see are not nearby homes. They belong to park maintenance.

South Miami is a fairly small city, but we ARE a city who cares about everything in our borders. We fight to keep the Fuchs Pond healthy and clean. When we vote for our Mayor, we care about issues such as dog parks and sidewalks. US-1 bisects us nearly in half - I am on the eastern-slash-southern side of the highway - and I do my part against littering. Everyone seems to do their part about something. It is a great little town, and I'm glad that Mom insisted on my moving here.
