About the artist:
Lorraine Ryan is driven to draw and paint what she sees around her. She began as a small child and has been an artist all her life. She is an honors graduate of Parsons School of Design, and she studied fine arts as well at the Art Students League of New York. She has had a number of one-woman shows in New York and Connecticut and has received awards in juried exhibitions. Over the years her fine art paintings have been collected in the U. S. and the U.K. and reproduced as posters and greeting cards, sold worldwide. Some of her paintings are now reproduced in iris giclee, limited edition, prints. In 2005 she was honored to be juried into the prestigious Mystic Seaport’s 26th Annual International Marine Art Exhibition, with my painting “It’s A Keeper.” Her acrylics and watercolors range from large complex still lifes—to farms, landscapes—to lush florals—to coastal/seascapes—to portraits of people, animals, and homes, by commission. Her current focus is Connecticut farms and barns, hoping to raise awareness of their rapid disappearance. She has never indulged in abstract intellectual notions of art, but rather has merely tried to capture the things she enjoys observing, while hopefully sharing these observations with others.
