It is quite beautiful. The artistry of the monks is amazing. I am pleased you enjoyed the puzzle. As for the symbolism there are several symbols that have commonly used in the depictions of Christ. They are the fish, which has links to the Eucharist; the snake, which symbolises the resurrection of Christ; the lion, which is another symbol of resurrection. Also, the peacock which you can see either side of the head of Christ in this particular page, It is used to signify the incorruptibility of Christ. I hope this explains some things and enhances your enjoyment of the picture.
Lovely! Very challenging too. Wouldn't you love to know the meaning behind all the symbolism used?
