Great photo and thank you for remembering.

A powerful tribute.

Thanks Kate. It is, as JB says, a beautiful puzzle. There's an elegance about the tall ships...a quiet presence without the sound of engines. That gives us pause... Carole

Thank you for the beautiful puzzle. Thank you even more for the wonderful mini-history reminder of what Memorial Day is all about. Jan

Thank you very much for letting everyone know the true meaning of Memorial Day

Fiirst observed May 30, 1868 with flowers placed on graves of both North and South military dead at Arlington National Cemetary by order of General John Logan. In 1915, Moina Michael began a tradition in America of wearing a red poppy on May 30 in remembrance. Selling poppies to raise money for families of those who died in wars, spread to other nations. In 1971, the National Holiday Act Changed Memorial Day in America from May 30 to be another of the Monday holidays for the convenience and pleasure of a three day weekend. Many believe the date should be returned to May 30th because the remembrance of the horror of war and of all those who have given their lives to it, is greater than the pleasure of a long weekend. Whatever day we choose - Remember .
