This was the expected 'kit' in those days, but by 1966, women and girls had generally discarded hats and gloves, and even wore slacks!

!!! I'm only a few years behind you @elliwelli and unfortunately hats were still part of the Sunday school rig into the early 70's up our way and I hated them! The gloves went a lot earlier and I think you would have received a frosty reception wearing slacks in our conservative neck of the woods!

Noooo.....the hats were the BEST part of Easter Sunday!!! My Mom used to buy me the ones with the largest, prettiest brims with a dip! They were great! Made me feel so girl-y. Esp. after Dad was always asking his chief helper (me) to help hold up a sheet of wallboard or hammer in a few nails. (We girls are double-duty!)

I agree, kansasgranny, though I've got to admit I loathed the hats!!! I am not a hat person!

I remember it well and miss it sometimes. I think this is very pretty and respectful too. I had all of this for Easter Sunday and my mother and sisters did too. Thank you.

I remember the hats and gloves for church rule, and you also had a pair of good shoes that were just for church or special occasions -- they were usually black patent leather T-straps or "Mary Janes". Sometimes i think we have gotten too relaxed about our appearance anymore, and are turning into a nation of slobs. :-)
