Grandy's Heart

Grandy’s heart showed through in everything with love.

There would be cards and letters
cookies galore
special treats
knitted mittens, sweaters
and so much more.

She’d pick up neat little gifts
or buy an ice cream cone,
you could surely find a surprise or two
waiting for you in her special nook at home.

Grandy loved to sing
and play her ol’ piano
or dance a silly jig,
bouncing to and fro!

There was always fun to be had
with Grandy around;
eyes spoke of the love in her heart,
you seldom saw her brow
arched in a frown.

No matter how sneaky,
no matter how sly,
you couldn’t fool Grandy,
as she saw all things
with her warm, hazel eyes.

She would take you biking,
buy coloring books and games
crayons and construction paper,
and call you silly names.

Grandy adored landscapes and seascapes,
puzzles on rainy days,
an occasional jaunt into town
to enjoy a variety of musical plays.

Grandy was soft-hearted, determined to protect
even little monkeys like us,
when in trouble we easily did get
this gentle woman never made a fuss.

Though we’ve all outgrown
our childhood ways,
Grandy’s heart will never forget
our mischievous antics from those early days
and our gifts to her of every reptilian pet.

There are still letters and cards
and cookies galore
knitted socks and scarves
and so much more.

Grandy’s heart will always shine through in everything with love.
