I liked that too, Susana!

I love that you can see the swallowtail's face in this shot; normally we only get to see their backs.

We're supposed to have an all-black swallowtail here in southern California too, the pipevine swallowtail, but I've never seen one. Of course, I had never seen an Anise swallowtail until this one, so maybe I'll see the other types too.

@pcteacher I remember black, yellow, and tiger swallowtails in NE Oklahoma & NE Kansas long ago--together my favourite butterflies. Do you have all three in central Oklahoma now?

Lovely. We have black swallowtail butterflies in OK.. Their tails are black but they have a narrower band of black and some bright blue spots.

As you promised, another swallowtail. This one is new to me, but I can add it to my favourite butterflies "in person" and on Jigidi.
Anise swallowtails have made across the Canadian border into the edge of Alberta. Maybe I'll see one someday.

Glad you like it, Ed!

Thanks, Ardy. I usually see the Western Tiger Swallowtails, who have a lot less black on them. I was confused when I saw this one, but pleased that she was so busy with the flowers that I got several decent photos.

It's Cleveland sage, Carol.

Gorgeous! Thanks Ginni!

Beautiful. Do you know what the flower is? Looks sort of like bee balm.
