a favorite movie of mine, a modern classic
I know, all these tunes are running through my mind. It'll be a while before they stop!
Well, I did say I have all the songs memorized, and I bow to you with your mastery of the dialogue, but truly the music just comes pouring out of me...something so masterful about the music and the lyrics...must have been the age I was when I first heard them...early teenage...kind of like early Beatles...it's just all there...forever...Sherry :)))And I'm reading your lyrics...can't read them without the music playing, too...strange...
You're doing song lyrics, and I'm doing dialogue! Hahahaha! Here's my favorite part of "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" Eliza singing --Lots of chocolate for me to eat!Lots of coal makin' lots of heat!Warm face, warm hands, warm feet!Oh, wouldn't it be loverly?
Eliza -- Bed, bed, I couldn't go to bed...Freddy -- I have often stood on this street before, but the pavement always moved beneath my feet before...Alfred Doolittle --For god's sake get me to the church on timeEliza -- All I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night's air...It all just comes pouring out, doesn't it...I can do the same thing with Sound of Music...I'll probably be singing from both movies long after Alzheimer's sets in...Sherry :)))
Pickering, "Higgins!"Higgins, "Pickering!"Eliza Doolittle, "I'm a good girl, I am!"Professor Henry Higgins, "There even are places where English completely disappears. Why, in America, they haven't used it for years!"Professor Henry Higgins, "Why can't a woman be more like a man?"Colonel Hugh Pickering, "Have you NO morals, man?"Alfred P. Doolittle, "Nah. Nah, can't afford 'em, guv'nor. Neither could you, if you was as poor as me."
I have the video, I have the LP, I'm old...I adore this movie, everyone in it, all the songs, have most of the dialogue and all the songs memorized...did I say I was old? I love this movie? ...Sherry :)))
My wife dragged me kicking and screaming to see this when it was rereleased in 1970 or '71. I hated musicals. Or so I thought. I loved it! What a wonderful movie, what a perfect cast and it is SO FUNNY!
