Yes, rain would indeed be a blessing at this point. It's looking quite favorable here for several days with rain.....I hope, but whether or not it will move up to the Four Corners area?

RebeccaB

As a sickly child, I learned to knit (and purl) without looking - if there's not "fancy' stitch pattern, of course. Been trying it on crochet too, getting there. :)

Haven't heard about the fire(s) yet today, but I don't smell smoke in the air. I think that's the one that, at the end of last week, was twice as big as one of our metro suburbs! I guess the best thing we can do at this point is pray for rain...

Atsutsa

How's you're air today? I think you are probably not that near the 416 fire but a SW wind would blow it up your way. It's even sinking down to Santa Fe and most of the four corners area today.

Well, my eyes are better than they were since I had the cataracts removed. It's also the case that a lot of what I do I do with "feel". Not with this yard yet though....it's too light to offer the resistance I usually rely upon to let me "know" stuff. It's going to be quite thin looking but we'll see about the warmth. It's a bit more blended than a "tweed" - didn't mean to mislead.

RebeccaB

I love the tweeds - let me know if it's really warmer . But your eyes must be better than mine - the older I get the more trouble I have with dark colors. Good luck!

Becky, I got two types. The larger (size 8 needles) is a brown-gray tweedy yarn, I'm knitting this now. It's so light weight it flies away (dropping stitches) but I've finally got long enough on the sleeves of a cardigan that it's getting easier. The other is a gray-black for size 5 needles which I'll make into a vest or even a sweater, if there's enough, to go with the cardigan. It's supposedly a lot warmer than wool so I'm hoping it will help in MN (if we get there). I find the super hot weather really plays havoc with my thinking.

Hello ladies. I've been working on this but pulling out nearly as much as I've been doing. I've foolishly tried to make some changes to a pattern that's new to me. And it's very fine yarn, so as I said to my sister, you can work all evening and only make 1 inch. :) It's also static-y, wanting to jump away from itself, AND twisty. But I'm liking the result and I'll post a puzzle when it's done. I did have to remove the stripes...

For reasons I can't explain (because I don't understand it, in this super-hot weather!), I've been making lap robes instead. Hope to make some puzzles of them in the next day or 2.

I've never worked with alpaca, but saw some I almost got - lovely light/medium aqua, gray, and tan. Luckily I saw the alternate photo of the skein of yarn, where I noticed some … LIME green! What color did you get, Anne? What are you going to make?

Atsutsa

Becky, I got some alpaca for knitting....delicious to feel but so light it nearly flies away. I've been having to deal with how to avoid slipped stitches.

This will look fabulous when finished, Rebecca. Please do let us see the finished product. ♥♥

P.S. Sorry I am so behind with this comment. Today I am attempting to play 'catch up'. ☺

RebeccaB

Thank you Impie, I think I'll like it when done.

I agree Atsutsa, which is why I currently have so much yarn!

Impie

It's lovely, Rebecca, it was a fun puzzle too!, Thanks ♥

Atsutsa

Yes, there are. I get easily overwhelmed looking at them.

RebeccaB

Thank you - I love it when the yarn does most of the "work", LOL. SO many specialty yarns these days. :)

Atsutsa

That's incredibly nice. You are a very creative knitter RebeccaB.
