This is an experiment for me on Jigidi ... a series of images of the abandoned Albert Estate. The series is used to tell the tale of "The Last Albert". When you complete each image, you unlock the next piece of the story. I don't know how well this will go over on Jigidi -- if it looks like a few people like it, I may do other such story series.

As we walk around the side of the mansion, we're heading for the "back yard". What was once a wide manicured lawn with neatly tended flower and herb gardens is now a wild overgrown field. The yard is bounded by a large, tall wrought iron and concrete border fence. Various trees have taken root in the lawn, while the old decorative trees have mostly died off. The once carefully tended flower beds have spread across the field, creating a rather colorful display.

As we moved around the mansion, the structure continued to appear to be in relatively good shape even if abandoned all these years. We found a few of the upper floor windows were broken -- though it was strange to see that the glass appeared to have shattered outwards, with shards found strewn around on the ground below the windows -- not the act of vandal visitors. Some of the lower windows were boarded up, but not all of them, and we found boards around the house as it they were in the process of boarding up the house when they suddenly decided to stop.

There are almost no artifacts to be found on the grounds, but we did find one oddity here, an old tricycle now rusting away. This may have been last ridden by the last Albert, Phineas IV, when he was growing up here.
