Why are you reporting this puzzle?

This idyllic image captures the essence of a Bonga-Bongan summer Sunday..........Yours truly lazing on the grass in front of images of....um....me, on the cover of Vogue magazine........with the beautiful lake Lelabonga glistening in the background......
Oh, and of course there's a bike-riding Goliath frog here, also, as well........

Pomegranate! I don't like too. I think it's savourless. The only kind of fruit tree you can see around my city with the fruits still. I just have some in New Years Eve for good luck. Is the frog or toad (I never know the difference) some Plvis Eresley relative?

Elfie

Isn't it time for that purification to have a pause???? What's happening???? Has Mr Frog jumped out into the lake.....??

juneshone

cheap way of purification though

Plumpossum

Congratulations on your pomegranate rehabilitation, and welcome to the ranks of pomegranate lovers, whoever they may be (I'm not really one of them). I'm certain they will have a salutary effect on your health (physical, not mental. Preparing them to eat will likely destroy your mental health). A bit of pomegranate juice would also, as well, improve the beneficial effects of your tadpole wine, which seems to need a little something to make it palatable. I wouldn't advise mixing pomegranate juice with onion juice, though. At least, not unless you are fond of retching.

teamac

I did enjoy the scenery and liked the photos (your ears are back to their former selves ) although I think one picture is good here... perhaps froggy could move the 2nd sign futher down the lake, so others may enjoy it :^)
I have nothing to say about Baseball only wishing good health and happy days to DB. The fruit I can take or leave.

lelabugosi

Plumpy....Thank you for your kind offer, which I shall politely decline......
Mr.Le-Squirt.......Your taunts now fail to provoke me, for I am now immune to the formerly dreaded word, and can even say it out loud - POMEGRANATES!.......So there!........

gemstone

Get off "the touching experience", psquirt!!!

Plumpossum

Just as soon as they are ripe, Hanne!

patsquire

Yes, lelabug would ban all the p*********** here in Bugosiland, but somewhere, someone would hang on for dear life to the last of them. And when he or she ate it, it would Provoke One More Excited Gasp, Rendering A Nuanced, Awesomely Touching Experience.

Elfie

Varda, pfffttt - if he doesn't want them, I would like them very much - the onions too!!

Plumpossum

Lela, would you like me to send you one (or more) of my lovely all-natural super-quality outsize tree-ripened pomegranates? I could even include a few onions in the shipment.

lelabugosi

I am so happy for you..............

Plumpossum

My pomegranate crop looks to be pretty good this year. Also the figs. And some of my tomato plants have actually survived long enough to make some tomatoes!

juneshone

kissing frogs making tadpoles, more germination. I'm off to tackle the north face of the upper floor, have fun

lelabugosi

Any that have room for all my correspondence...............

Elfie

Mailboxes????? Which?? - or just in general.....

lelabugosi

Or "mailboxes"?..........

grannygoatlady

Can we get back to "kissing a frog"?....that doesn't take any thinking on my part............

lelabugosi

"Germination"..........Hee-Hee-Hee-Hee!..........(Though I imagine you are asking in a philosophical, metaphysical, way!).........
It is just as the pomegranate seed conversation led to a discourse on food, as it grew and bore fruit......sort of........(watered of course by the 'pomegranate delirium').............

juneshone

ertia? I like that but more likely nascence

help .... how is it possible ? Such a Little Picture brings this storm of comments . I see nothing of Baseball or granaatapfel or ...,, Yes , the lake is beautiful , I also would like to see it without this anti - nature - bigbig covers .

pdevredis

For some reason, I started thinking about seeds--we have several half-empty packets left over from planting our garden. The tiny specks don't look alive, and they don't move or grow or need food or air, or do any of the other things we think of when we say something is living--they seem more like bits of sand or dirt. Yet when we put them in the ground, and water them, in a short time they sprout. And then they do grow, and push through the soil, and take in nutrients, and so on. They are surely alive then. What is that moment of "awakening"? Just wondering........

lelabugosi

I seem to remember once, a conversation here starting with pomegranates, going on to pineapples,
tangerines, apricots, oro blanco grapefruit, olives, pickled kumquats, and ending with a "pig pickin'".........
It lasted 3 days........I believe I fell asleep......
Anyway, there is definitely an obsession, bordering on mass hysteria, regarding pomegranates.....and someone has to put a stop to it for the benefit of mankind!.......

Elfie

Lela!! I know what is wrong!! Somehow you have had a shell shock!! Who threw the p. shells into your face once??

ThomasCat

Juneee you and psquirt are certainly giving us a lot of lessons about history, science, warfare, etc. etc. on and on, and I am not sure I am keeping up...I really hope there isn't going to be a test...

Elfie

Thanks for the information, GGL, I think you are right, it's a severe phobia and it's bad enough. Junee, I love your philospy about weapon and fruit! Isn't it just ironical that the innocent fruit has been chosen like that!! Be careful about cheese, perhaps it's the real menace!!

juneshone

so is it death or fertility that upsets you. Timor mortis conturbat me! I think the sun has gotten to my head. I ate cheese that shouldn't have been eaten for lunch and I'm not vewy well.

juneshone

they look like little bombygranates, maybe you get them confused with hand grenades, the French did, ergo pomme grenades

So why name the weapon after the fruit? If you were to crack open a hand grenade today you would see tiny balls of shrapnel inside the explosive?s casing. The shrapnel mimics the pomegranate?s seeds?each seed the potential for a new tree, each shrapnel the potential for a hit body. Shaped like a pomegranate and designed like a pomegranate, it?s certainly ironic that a weapon used to kill several people at once is named after the ancient fruit of fertility.

cakes1947

Lovely scenery but let's knock off the advertising boards!!! Thanks Lela!!! :)))
(time, 2:16)

ThomasCat

Elfie, that means one dollar and fifty cents for one pomegranate....or a lot of money for a bunch of seeds...

grannygoatlady

Hanne, that's slang for $1.50 apiece.....

Just as an aside, here in South Texas, you can grow them in your garden and eat them for free...and I don't believe I've ever heard of them turning on and attacking the gardeners.....however, one would never really know....would one?............And I don't ever remember any blazing newspaper headlines "Farmer Brown Attacked by Enraged Pomegranate Bush....Saved by Quick Thinking Weed Whacker"...........So I really can't understand lela_bug's phobia....
Hmmmm, would fear and loathing of pomegranates be "Pomegranaphobia"............

Elfie

What is "a buck and a half a pop"???

Plumpossum

Pomegranates are very good for the health of those who sell them at a buck and a half a pop.

Elfie

Actually, when I see them lying in the super-markets, they aren't really very menacing!! They lie quite still and don't say a sound..........?!!!

lelabugosi

I can't quite remember why I don't like them, but here is an old one referring to the subject........
http://www.jigidi.com/created.php?id=KUQ56C96

All I know is......THEY ARE A MENACE TO SOCIETY!

Juneee,Juneee,Juneee,Juneee and Juneee........Yes.......

Elfie

Pomegranates? Lela doesn't like them - but I don't know why!! I like them very much too - and so does Plumpossum!!

Lelabugosi, I apologize for high-jacking your conversation...but it was wonderful news about Doublebatter.

Juneshone, thank you for the welcome...and warning. But please explain the aversion to that "p" word you mentioned.

juneshone

it's such a lovely day I could go on and on and on...............

juneshone

ps and furthermore I live in the English Lake District and those hoardings would certainly not be allowed anywhere near scenic stuff in my neck of the woods/mountains/lakes etc. I'm not too sure about the garden gnome either. the toad is alright but no kissing, he might be psychedelic

juneshone

I feel really guilty now, the last puzzle doublebatter made was my birthday card, 15th June. Hopefully dear DB has just gone off on holidat and will soon return to us

juneshone

welcome to jigidi and BongaBonga where the lovely people dwell flowerymist. Just don't mention pomegranates

juneshone

yes dear Lela, whatever are they talking about?

patsquire

Hey, you asked. I answered.

lelabugosi

Oh nooooooooo!.............What have I started?!............

Patsquire, it's great to hear that the Cubs won. It doesn't sound like you brought them bad luck at all, well only temporarily, but they won out in the end and the final score is the only one that counts.

patsquire

Me too, oh Mystical one, but I'm bad luck for my beloved Cubs. This afternoon I turned on the TV in the top of the ninth, Cubs leading 3 to 2, Pirates batting and IMMEDIATELY a Pirate hit a solo homer to tie the game! The patsquire curse at work! However, in the bottom of the 11th the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out, and a pinch hitter hit a long fly to right! The man on third tagged up and SCAMPERED HOME (as they say) well ahead of the throw! WHEW! A minute later the whole stadium was singing their victory song, "Go Cubs, go! Go Cubs, go!"

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.
They got the power, they got the speed
To be the best in the National League
Well this is the year and the Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field........etc.

Patsquire, that is wonderful news. I sincerely hope that he makes it to AAA ball...although, being in Missouri, I'm a Cardinal's fan but I love good baseball regardless of the team.

patsquire

He got drafted by the New York Yankees, and right now he's playing minor league baseball with the Montgomery Biscuits in the AA Southern League. He's a switch-hitter (and you just keep your nasty mouth shut), batting both lefty and righty, hence the sobriquet "double-batter" and hopes to work his way up to AAA ball and then the Yankees themselves before the Pennant Race (which precedes the World Series).

The boy is definitely showing a lot of promise! So far he's batting .349 with 2 homers (one lefty, one righty), 6 doubles and a triple already. Not bad for two weeks in pro ball. The kid is some kind of progidy .... pordigry .... podigy .... wunderkind!

lelabugosi

Just had a thought.......does anyone know anything about double-batter (twoclubs)?........not been here since June 20th.......

patsquire

With goliath frogs I fear it may work the other way, oh Mystical one. We wouldn't want to waste a princess trying it, would we?

I once saw a cartoon in which a snake had a large lump right behind its head and was saying, "Ahem, excuse me, I've got a frog in my throat!"

lelabugosi

Well, Flowery-Fog........you're welcome to give it a try - rather you than me, hee-hee!......

Is dashing Goliath frog waiting for a princess' kiss to turn him back into a charming prince?

lelabugosi

Mr.Le-Squirt......If I don't promote myself - then who will?......Anyway, you yourself are an expert at self-promotion.....even if AT NOTHING ELSE!.............

patsquire

Plus which furthermore, if that comment makes no sense, anyway, still, there is SEVERE blockage of a wonderfully picturesque view here. Caused by those garish self-promoting posters erected (hee-hee, I said erected) on those flimsy green stands. Plus that pig of a frog an a hog. Ugh!

patsquire

I think in this case . . . the "l" and the "r" are . . . REVERSED!

lelabugosi

"Clap-Trap" INDEED!.......HMPH!............

gemstone

I certainly hope Trouble and Frog doesn't see see this. She has had enough "motorcycle days" and might "get ideas".

Elfie

"Clap-Trap" - indeed..... you hit something!!

grannygoatlady

"Clap-Trap"....don' cha just love that term?..................

gingerpeachy

I agree....the posters are a blot on the beauty of the lake....one is even starting to fall apart...I think someone has tried to pull it down which shows how Bonga Bongans feel about this type of clap-trap

lelabugosi

Oh.......I thought the lake was interfering with the view of the posters!.......

Elfie

Couldn't you remove the posters a little? They spoil the view of the beautiful lake!!

lelabugosi

Ears, ears.....I don't know why everybody has a thing about ears, elegant and perfectly-proportioned as they may be........very strange..........

grannygoatlady

All together now..
"Froggy went a'courtin' and he did ride...uh huh".....
"Froggy went a'courtin' and he did ride....uh huh"....
"Froggy went a'courtin' and he did ride...Had lela_mouse-ears by his side....uh huh"..................

gingerpeachy

It's amazing how your ears fold up like an accordion under that hat....and as for the frog...he looks as if he would fall over backwards if that thing started up......if there was a race between him and the notorious pink bicycle I'm afraid I would have to put my money on the bike...

lelabugosi

Granny has gone to Mt.Mushmore, to check on the situation there..........and the frog gave me a ride....so to speak.......

grannygoatlady

Hmmm!!....I don't see SLOgranny hanging about anywhere...was she not invited....In fact, I don't see any of the Bonga-Bonga "royalty" except you.....Surely anyone, who's anyone, would "jump" at the chance to "Chill" with you....Certainly the Goliath Frog did..........
