Information from Hemmings Motor News looking back at old advertising.
Larks went to producing nice hardtop cars. Looks good to me. I would want one.

Hi Pat. The show was "Mr. ED". He was a talking horse owned by Wilbur and Carol Post. He would only talk to Wilbur because he thought Wilbur was the only human worth talking to. The show was sponsored by Studebaker Larks. Wilbur would often be in the Lark commercials. That's why I thought Wilbur and Carol might be in the picture. You're about five years older than me so you were probably more interested in girls and cars at that time. Dave

Congrats Vince. sounds like it was done a few times.
Dave, I don't know the show? sorry. Maybe I'm just to young? I'm only 76. ha ha.
Pat.

Hi redavanti. I figured you would probably know what show I'm talking about. Now I'm just waiting for Pat to check in. I'm sure he probably remembers it too. I just watched a DVD of the show and my daughter couldn't stop laughing. I think the old shows are just as good or better than what's on TV today.

Got my HCC yesterday. His 51 sounds like a good build. A friend of mine built one as a 52 Commander business coupe. Mustang 67 I remember the show quite well. Have always been a Studebaker lover.

I almost expected to see Alan Young and Connie Hines in this picture (aka Wilbur and Carroll Post) touting their new Studebaker Lark. You're around my age, Pat, so you probably know what show I'm talking about. Dave.

Nope, Mark Klinger.
said, he was from AZ, moved to Fla? and it was for sale in AZ so he got his brother to buy it for him... His brother has the '51 starlight with the large rear window. This one is the business coupe... With a 289 bored out to 302, made by someone else... he was getting it to replace his '57 Golden Hawk, and said it was much easier to get in and out of. and went driving with lots of spirit, since it was so light.
Pat.

Was it Ted Harbit?

@redavanti2 I saw an article in Hemmings Classic Car Magazine about a '51 Studebaker coupe... and it had a picture of a guy that owned the car, wearing a T shirt with a red Avanti on it. ha ha... His name was not Vince though.. ha ha.
The Stude had a 289,, or rather 302 Studebaker engine in it. cool.
Pat.

I still remember the jingle (or maybe it was a print ad): "The Lark by Studebaker: A mapful of miles on a pocketful of change." I liked them from the start.

THANKS Vince. Looks good, I like hardtops. It probably had a V8 too.
Pat.

I have this piece of literature.
