The Agave americana plant is only one of some 1750 known species of the order Caryophyllales. Although what you say about this one may be true, this is NOT true for hundreds of other cactus species which do indeed bloom year after year.
The Agave americana plant, commonly known as the century plant, generally lives about 30 to 40 years, blooms once and then dies. ... The top of the plant has not yet bloomed but Ward thinks it might not bloom before the plant dies, The Wichita Eagle reported.Jun 27, 2012
I have seen cacti bloom in the same place year after year, so, sorry jigsawfanatic, I don't agree with your statement.....and this includes many varieties. Fay.
Jigsawf, I did not know that about cacti. That's a shame because they are so beautiful in bloom. Hate to think of something dying after putting all this beauty out there..Rayna
