well take a look at this, this was what started it off - I was going to post Hoagy Carmichael with "my resistance is low however, whilst it flopped in the USA it was a hit in the UK but just take a look at Jane Russell and Victor Mature.
I can't wait to give her a listen. An all-girl swing band sound PERFECT to me! Has anyone seen the Japanese high school swing bands? They're fabulous, and one even marched in the Rose Parade a few years ago. (The Tournament of Roses, on January 1, the day of the Rose Bowl, with all the super-fab floats made ONLY of flowers and vegetation.)

Ivy Benson (11 November 1913 – 6 May 1993) was an English musician and bandleader, who led an all-female swing band. Benson and her band rose to fame in the 1940s topping the bill at the London Palladium, and became the BBC's resident house band.
