Flaky cookies made from cream cheese dough and fruit filling. The cookies can come in various shapes (diamond, circular, square) but they're characterized by wrapping the edges across the surface. They're a little time consuming to make so they're usually only made for Christmas.

I make these at Christmas time. A special treat, and yes, I learned about them from Polish families growing up in Chicago also.

A blast from my past. I grew up in a Chicago neighborhood of Polish immigrants. The family upstairs was from Poland and their Mom made these cookies. She would give us some. They melted in my mouth and were so good. I thought I died and went to heaven. We moved to the suburbs when I was 9. I can still remember how scrumptious those cookies were. Thanks for the memories.
