The Jersey Tiger, (Callimorpha Quadripunctaria). The jersey tiger moth is a beautiful moth with creamy white strips on its forewing and bold orange underwings. The jersey tiger moth can be found in gardens and by the coast, for instance near beaches and coastal cliffs. The caterpillars feed mainly on ground ivy, white dead-nettle, branmble and common nettle. These moths fly in both day and night. Between June and September, you can observe hundreds of tiger moths
literally covering all the trees, as the valley’s climate and environment is perfect for their reproduction. The valley is one of Europe’s best sanctuaries for the Callimorpha Quadripunctaria butterflies.

Thank you Janet, they are very pretty moths.

Val, I'm glad you like them.

Jill, seeing the 100s of moths covering every inch of the Valley of Butterflies is quite a sight.

Dobra, indeed it is. But it isn't for everyone to see!

Alliebono, I'm not that familiar with lives of moths-butterflies in general, I hope they come to your country.

Suzy, it is definitely a pretty one!

Such a colorful butterfly.

Very colourful! Will look them up and find out more about them. I will also check if they come this far. I do not know much about the moths that come to Malta. Thanks :-) x
