sorry about that ... water on limestone


They are like our hoodoos in New Mexico brought about by wind erosion of sandstone mesas. The Apostles were eroded by water of limestone. Nature is so different and yet strangely similar all over the world. Thank you so much for posting this lovely puzzle.

The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Their proximity to one another has made the site a popular tourist attraction. Currently there are eight apostles left, the ninth one of the stacks collapsed dramatically in July 2005. The name remains significant and spectacular especially in the Australian tourism industry. Wikipedia
