good stuff boys
Got some time on the C-121 (Constellation) both in the air & maintenance. The Wright R-3350 went thru several mods adding power recovery turbines & turbo-superchargers which was the only radial engine to be able to achieve more than one horse power per cubic inches of piston displacement, It went thru it's growing pains with engine fires on both the C-121 & the B-29 due to over heating of the rear row of cylinders & over boosting. The 18 cylinder R-3350 was able to nearly meet the hp rating of the 28 cylinder R-4360. They tried powering some C-121's with 4, R-4360 engines but found the increased weight & drag not acceptable & stayed with the R-3350
One of the prettiest of the old-timers!
