Ah, Betty thank you for the article. In my yard my trees have been leafed out for a couple weeks now....but I don't know about the mesquites here.

Anne, we missed the snow but not the cold, mid 30's for 3 mornings, one more to go! We have an old poem around here that the Old Mesquites Ain't out ... meaning that until you see the Old, big mesquite trees leaf out, don't trust Spring. I've never seen them wrong, until about the last 5-6 years and we've had a late cold front that hits just about the time they leaf out.
I found a page that has the poem by Frank Grimes, it is a standard for spring around here.

Whoa, what a surprise!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... ;DDD

True, dustydog. My son even went to the HS he teaches at for a while....he's missing his normal routine and, teaching biology, he has live specimens to check on and feed.

The ONE good thing this snow did....it gave us something else to think about besides not being with our usual family members for a day. ( Gotta check out the damage...gotta stay off the slippery roads....gotta watch out for lightning strikes, or tornadoes!)

While I'm certain it will have melted by the time I go to bed tonight....it was quite a shock! My daughter lives in Minneapolis an she got 8 inches so @dustydog 's just in line with that area. Thank you for allowing me to "shock" your mornings!

Eeeek! Not funny, Mother Nature, not funny :)

Oh wow, Anne! Who'd have thunk it, especially where you are! DustyDog posted pic of the 7" they got in WI and jals showed round hail balls that look like jaw breaker candy! Crazy!! Thankfully calm here. Wimsey and I will box up some sunbeams for you...we're headed into some very nice sunny days with a possible 70°F later this week!

We woke up to more today too (Colorado), and more on the way. Glad I didn't put the winter clothes away yet! (Or get the hose out.)
