As luck would have it, the zipper on the "time out room" of our tent got snagged (Jim) and ultimately "ripped" (Suzy) in the middle of the night (bathroom run), To protect the front room from predicted rain, we put a tarp up over the front of the tent. Always prepared!

You continue to make me smile, Celine. Thank you!!!
@Heicel

Smart idea + instant implementation = success. It's as easy as that.
If you can come up with a smart idea, that is.
And if you have the means for implementation, of course.
...
It's just... sometimes... 😬 πŸ™„πŸ€― 😳

LOL:-))))

pumpkinhead

We are the same!! LOL

I will forget right after I have the idea.

pumpkinhead

EXACTLY!!!!! :)))))))

Or you will forget.

pumpkinhead

There are no bugs in the TENT either, Faye!!! (We did have a small frog inside this time, however....I blame the boggy site we had). :))))

A fine winter's project, Ianto. I just have to remember to put it on my "winter list". :)

That you do, no rush then.

gemstone

In answer to your questions to Robbos: YES!!! You just leave the windows open...and there are no bugs 'cause those windows have screens!!!

pumpkinhead

Tarps. They are necessities, Jacki. :)

No bears here, Janet!!! The largest mammal we saw was a chipmunk. :))

Luckily I have many months to figure out how to come up with something to replace the zipper, Jill. A bar of soap could have fixed the issue in the first place....but it WAS the middle of the night! :(

The duct tape was nearby, Laura! LOL

It was a satisfactory solution with what we had on hand, Lorna. :)

I have months to work on the solution, Ianto!

We bring 2 good sized tarps along, Pat....and then the small blue one (always in the wheel well). Hope you are enjoying your houseboating!

Those middle of the night walks when camping (not every night!) are NOT welcome walks, Lucy! :(

We didn't float away, so all was good, Barb! :)

Very well stated, Hanne! :)))))

Be careful what you wish for, Shirley! With the rain comes two crazy people!!! LOL

:) alias2v!

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I get it, Robbos. But can you hear the surf from your off-road caravan? Can you listen to the coyotes sing you to sleep? Can you breathe the fresh ocean (or mountain) air? Just wondering......cuz an off-road caravan sure sounds appealing!

Robbos

Now you know why I bought an off-road caravan☺

:)

Shian2

Suzy, I'm sending an invitation to you and Jim to come visit me, we badly need the 3inches of rain you had or even half of that would be very helpful. Glad you went prepared with the extra tarp, I hope it dried up for the rest of your camping trip. Thanks, Suzy.

Elfie

"You never know" things are very welcome out in the wilderness!! :-))))))))

SunnyBarb25

Everything is good that ends good....thanks, Suzy πŸ™‚πŸ™‚

grandmalucy

i see i am not the only one needing that restroom during the night. hope all went well

pkin38

Always nice to have a extra tarp .. {-)))

That it did, oce you get home you will be able to fix the tent.

goingsilver

Uh-oh. grand remedy though! ☺

laurajane

Good old tarp. Next is the duct tape!

JillianB

Oh no! But yes a seasoned tenter know the real value of a spare tarp! Well done for knowing there is more than one way to stay dry 😊

jan42ful

No bears around I hope! I hope it can be fixed, hugs my friend. β™₯

bluebird42

There's always something . . . . . . .
Tarps, tarps, wonderful tarps.

pumpkinhead

Worked well enought, Ianto.

Temporary fix....winter will give me time for a permanent solution, Saavik. :)

No water coming in the front, Ardy....and there was a good 3 inches of it. Hugs. β™₯β™₯

Trenches are SO good....and SO NOT ALLOWED at Seawall, Faye. Your dad and Jim would have had a grand time putting up tarps together!

As we get older (mature?) there are more of those moments, Lela! Can't change things, just GO with it!! (Stupid zipper!!!)

lelabugosi

Oh dear .........a 'Be happy, don't worry' moment!

gemstone

My dad was our trench digger, and the Tarp King for 5-6 other families we used to vacation with...you can never have too many tarps! LOL πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

ringleader

Glad you are good scouts - always prepared. I assume that will be mended before the next camping trip? Did the tarp work to keep the contents dry? Hugs β™₯β™₯

SaavikLeary

Phew, good thing you had the tarp! Glad you were able to fix the problem πŸ™‚

It if works.
