Ugh! I don't envy you and all it takes to move. My theory is that's the best time to have a garage sale with everything priced dirt cheap! That, and lots of trips to the local charitable organizations...

There's no rush on my end to get your request for a playlist. Just take your time, and whenever you're ready, I will be ready, too.

RaynaGrace

Thanks for the generous offer of a playlist for us. As soon as things calm down here, I might take you up on it. We are in the midst of a renovation and a move so it might be a little longer than anticipated but I am looking forward to hearing and enjoying.. Rayna

@RaynaGrace

I LOVE the idea of a "new music appreciation night"! If you or your husband find that you like the Brazilian music, I'd be more than happy to put together a list for you.

I hope you both have a great New Year, and a great year in general!

RaynaGrace

Well, Elvis, we came of age during the early 70's. We are both in our mid-60's now so our taste and his ranges in different styles. Mostly the blues including very early blues are what dictates my listening these days. His are so vast and different in genres from classical to punk to rock to jazz and folk. I have to pull up the ones you suggested and have a listen. We have a "new music appreciation night" we indulge in on a regular basis and it always delights us to hear and enjoy music we haven't heard before. Thanks and have a happy and healthy New Year...Rayna

ElvisBanana

Thank you, @gr8girlonthego

I hope you have a great New Year!

@RaynaGrace

Your husband was just operating as a typical Elvis Costello fan. We use that kind of subterfuge in order to spread the love of Costello. Once you've been exposed, you've probably got the bug for life. There is no known cure.

I'm curious about the other kinds of music your husband likes. I, too, think music lifts the soul, and it can happen in so many wonderful, different ways. I find that jazz speaks to me in that way. Not the "jazz light" that you hear now, but classic vocal jazz and bebop. I am also especially fond of salsa, and in particular Cuban and New Yorican music. But my true passion is for Brazilian music. Because I'm old, I'm most fond of the masters of Bossa Nova, like Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, and Elis Regina. Your husband may already know that Jobim and Gilberto felt that Bossa Nova (which translates to "new way") was really samba. If you listen, you'll understand what they meant. It has the same rhythm, the same structure, etc. I suppose the term nowadays would be "samba unplugged". I could go on, but I'd really be interested in the music you and your husband like. I always like "discovering" an artist I hadn't known before...

Here's wishing you a Happy New Year, too!

gr8girlonthego

Thanks @ElvisBanana
Merry Christmas everyone!!

RaynaGrace

Interesting name story, Elvis. I like Elvis Costello's music as well as his wife, Diana's. I can thank my husband for that. He has a wide and varied love of all kinds of music and is forever asking me to listen to this or that. Music, like color, lifts the soul.

Merry Christmas everyone.

ElvisBanana

@gr8girlonthego

You like Elvis Costello?!! Oh, I feel for you! Whenever I mention my deep appreciation of his music, I'm met with blank stares or looks that say "why would you like THAT guy?". Only on rare occasions do I find someone with the freakishly weird recessive gene that makes a person like Elvis Costello! I feel honored that you would reveal such a dark secret about yourself...

Please have a safe and fulfilling holiday season!

gr8girlonthego

@ElvisBanana
Ahh... what an awesome backstory on your fun jigidi 'handle'
Thanks! BTW, I think Elvis Costello is pretty great too!

ElvisBanana

But of course, @gr8girlonthego

I really need to make a puzzle and dedicate it to the explanation of my name, as I've told the story many times. There are actually some puzzles I've made that have versions of that discussion in the comments, but I'd have to search through them to see which puzzles have those conversations. Then, you'd have to read through all the comments to figure out where the discussion is. It's easier for me to just tell you now.

Elvis is indeed great, but that's not really why I used the name. My real name sounds very common. When I go to a pizza restaurant, a deli, a barber, etc. it gets confusing. I hear my name called, and five guys start heading to the counter! I don't even know if it's really MY name, or some other guy's! Enter "Elvis". I've NEVER had that problem when I've used Elvis!

As an added bonus, I not only like Elvis Presley, but I like Elvis Costello even better (shhhhh, don't tell anyone). But the latter's true given name is Declan, while the King was REALLY named Elvis. That and the fabulous jumpsuits makes the original Elvis a better fit as a template for my avatar.

"Banana" is a more convoluted story. I was in Japan visiting friends. One is a Caucasian guy, and the other is an African-American guy. My heritage includes Japanese, which in the good old overtly racist days of America meant that I'm a "yellow" man. The three of us were walking down the street, and it struck me. We made a great ice cream sundae! Caucasian guy = vanilla ice cream, African-American guy = chocolate sauce, and "yellow" guy = bananas on the top! By the way, only after viewing the chaotic non-sequiturs seen on Japanese television would anyone ever put all that together...

Just like "Elvis", there's an additional bonus to "banana". I happen to LOVE Brazilian music. There is one musician named Milton Banana. Although he's not my VERY FAVORITE Brazilian musician, I do like him. So I can honestly say there's someone else out there using Banana as a last name. That makes it "legitimate"! I say it that way, because I doubt Banana is his last name by birth. It is not uncommon for people in Brazil to change their name for all sorts of reasons. A different musician changed his name from Jorge Ben to Jorge Ben Jor. The additional "Jor" made his name come out with a more auspicious numerological total. Anyway, that's pretty much it for the Banana.

Thanks for asking. I'm always happy to explain my idiosyncratic behavior...

gr8girlonthego

@ElvisBanana
Thanks for the thumbs up on my Jigdi name! Your's is pretty cool (love your avatar)! Question, I get the 'why' of Elvis (I mean, he's Elvis)....but the banana? Story here???

ElvisBanana

@gr8girlonthego

You have a fantastic Jigidi name! You go, girl -- oh, I guess you already are on the go...

ElvisBanana

RaynaGrace,

I'm actually rather ho-hum about chocolate. It just seemed an appropriate thing to say to lefty.

However, my doctor prescribed eating dark chocolate, among other things, to raise my good cholesterol. So maybe I SHOULD eat foods with chocolate as the main ingredient...

gr8girlonthego

Love taking something "old" and making is modern, We called these "Jingle Bells", because we made them at Christmas and used the red, green and white nonpareils. But we did add chocolate chips to the melted butter and marshmallows right before adding the rice krispies. Have not thought of these in years, might need to make a batch this weekend!

lefty50

My father was not a fan of chocolate, but my siblings and I inherited the chocolate-lover gene from Mom.

RaynaGrace

My husband and I are probably the only two people in the world not fans of chocolate and we managed to find each other.

Thank you, Elvis for all your fine research in the name of unicorn balls.

ElvisBanana

I hear you, lefty! I don't understand why chocolate isn't the primary ingredient in EVERY recipe!

lefty50

Thanks, ElvisBanana. If there's no chocolate in there, I'll skip it!

ElvisBanana

@lefty50
They sound like Rice Krispy Squares with the addition of sprinkles.

To save any curious future readers the trouble, here's the ingredient list. My additional comments are in the parentheses.

Marshmallows - 200g
Butter - 80g
Rice Bubbles - 4 Cups (I'm guessing these are essentially like Rice Krispies)
100s and 1000s - 1/4 cup (I'm guessing these are the sugar sprinkles)

lefty50

@ElvisBanana

Thanks for those excellent suggestions. I'm guessing they did it blurry on purpose so that you'd buy the book. I was really more curious about what the main ingredients were, not actually making them. It was a relief to know that chocolate was involved and not private parts of real or imaginary animals.

ElvisBanana

Thanks, @RaynaGrace
I got a good chuckle out of this one! How convenient for you (master of the multicolored puzzle) that unicorn anatomy includes a rainbow of color!

I looked at the website, and think you're right about the shop. In fact, I don't think there's a shop at all, since I tried to google it and find a shop on google maps, to no avail. As far as I can tell, they only have an online presence and there's no brick-and-mortar store.

It seems there should be a way around your printing woes. Did you try printing from the Unicorn Rainbow Balls page? If not, go to
https://mumspantry.com.au/unicorn-rainbow-balls/
Just above the actual recipe is a button that reads "PRINT"

If that's the image that came out too fuzzy, you can try taking a screenshot. If you've got a pc, I don't have any specific information for you, but I DO if you have a Mac. For a Mac, hold down command+shift+4 at the same time. When you release all three keys at the same time, your cursor will have turned into a crosshair with some numbers. Put that at one corner, and click your mouse (left click for a right-hand mouse). Continue holding it down. Drag the cursor to the opposite corner, then let go. That will take a screenshot of the area you delineated with your cursor. If you make a mistake, you can hit the esc button in the upper-left corner of the keyboard. That will cancel the screenshot and you can start again.

I learned that online, and if you need better instructions, or have a pc, I'm sure you could google it to find learn everything you need to know. Good luck!

I know that @HorseGrammy likes unicorns. I think this would provide an interesting and insightful look at unicorn anatomy!

lefty50

I checked the website in the off chance that they had a shop near where my friends will be traveling as they visit Australia, but all I could find was a recipe book available for purchase. On-screen printing of contents was too fuzzy to decipher.

PutterDutt

Oh, those poor, neutered unicorns! :o)

RaynaGrace

Couldn't agree more, Lefty.

lefty50

Not sure I want to know the ingredients...
