I'm sorry you had to go through this, too. But we had them and they loved us and will always live in our hearts. Thank you, Leni.

Thanks, natali and Mazy.

Mazy

I'm so glad you enjoyed such a good relationship with such a good woman... big hug. thank you for sharing this with us.

natali55

redina, милая, сочувствую твоему горю, это большая потеря...Ты очень тепло рассказываешь о своей маме и, я уверена, Господь определит её в лучшее место в Раю.

redina1

I enjoyed your puzzles, FW, and the peek into your family. Mom could have sold those quilts, but she just made them to give to friends.

redina1

Thanks, PW and Rebecca. I don't know if she would have been proud, but I am very proud of her. A small part of the world crying and I'm sure she's rejoicing with the Lord now.

FootballWidow

OMG I just saw the quilt & it is 3:18 am!! Bobby's B day is 4/24, close to your Mom.
There are many things I wanted to tell your Mom about AK. I will tell you sometime when your
life is not so hectic. Thank you for doing all my puzzles, that was really sweet. I will show the
quilt to Coach when he gets home on Thursday. God bless your Mom. Stay Safe.

I heard this some years ago - When we're born, we cry and the world rejoices. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

The Dash
by Linda Ellis.
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning to the end.

He noted that first came the date of birth, and spoke with the following date with tears,
but he said what matters most of all was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who love them know what that little line is worth.

For matters not how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash.
What matters is how we live in love and how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard; are the things you’d like to change?
You never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.

To be less quick to anger and show appreciation more.
And love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile.
Remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.

So when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash
would you be proud of the things they say about how you lived your dash?

wjl1015

So very true!! :))

redina1

I didn't make it up, but have no problem using it because it is so True!

nanab

I have never heard that phrase before, it's that little dash in between that counts- love it.

redina1

And, no, jals, I have no talent or patience for quilting. I usaually stick my finger if I pick up a needle, so it's something I try to avoid. :)

redina1

They say it is not the dates that count, but that little dash in between. She packed a lot of good things into her dash, and I know she is in a really good place now. My dad is hanging in there pretty well, but it's just going to be an adjustment.

Those who have lost a loved one were never ready but often the ones we loved and lost were ready to leave.

wjl1015

No one is ever ready Redina......

redina1

She made regular quilts and also some for our local school, the Bergman Panthers, which she donated for school reunions for the person that came the farthest and the one that was the oldest. She had arthritis in her knees and a bad back for years, but that didn't slow her down much. Dad said she was recently diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. She would have trouble catching her breath sometimes, and on Wednesday an hour after talking (and laughing) with my sister on the phone, she started feeling bad. Dad helped her to bed and went for the trash can she asked for because she felt like throwing up. When he came back with the trash can, she was gone. It was a peaceful way to go and for that we are grateful. We just weren't ready for it to happen. Thanks so much to each and every one of you for your kindness.

Took me just a second to identify the animal. (Without reading the inscription first.)

Razorbacks. Lovely, skillful and patient woman.

wjl1015

My mom is going to be 90 next month and is always on the go! I can't imagine my life without her......

RebeccaB

Such a big loss, but how wonderful to have so many memories of a happy successful life. Thanks for sharing.

jals

Beautiful looking and sounds like she was beautiful on the inside too. What an amazing quilt. She was a very accomplished quilter, did you inherit her love for quilting?
I'll say again, I am so sorry for your loss. Mothers leave a big hole in our hearts when they leave.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family in this difficult time.

AuntieGator

Redina - I am so sorry for your loss. Had she been ill? The love in my heart goes out to you and your family. A great big AuntieGator hug for you, redina.

Butterladyflybug7

Pretty lady. Our mothers shape our lives in a way that no one else can and they live on through us. You were blessed to have this woman as your mother, redina1, and to have been there with her at the end. I know you'll miss her forever. I'm so sorry for your loss, my friend. ✧❥✧¸.•*¨*✧♡✧ℒℴѵℯ ✧♡✧*¨*•❥

I’m sorry redina. She was lovely and talented. She lives on in your heart. Hugs

firstdawn

What wonderful talent she had. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for your loss, redina. I have to laugh that she loved the Razorbacks so much that she would go to so much work to make this lovely quilt! That's a fan. It's wonderful she had a loving family and so many interests - sounds like she had a good life.

redina1

Thanks, Jason and Ellen.

PutterDutt

You were very lucky to have had such a warm and loving Mom, redina. May she rest in peace. A hug to you.

Bubble

Thanks Robin, haven't heard the word Sooee for a while.

What a testimony to your mum to have so many people paying their respects - you must be very proud. (❀ᴗ❀)

Isaly

We never know how many lives we touch......

redina1

Thanks, Isaly. My dad worried that not many would come to her funeral, but about 200 people showed up to say goodbye to this wonderful woman.

Isaly

Beautiful quilt Redina and beautiful woman that made it. Thanks for sharing.

redina1

Thanks, PW.

redina1

The top and bottom panels say: "Sooee Pigs" (sometimes spelled sooey or sooie, but it's an Arkansas Razorback cheer.) The middle panels say "Arkansas Razorbacks." She was a big fan of the football and basketball teams from the University of Arkansas. Thanks, Bubble and sihecht.

PWH

What a talented [and beautiful] mother you have, Redina.

jasonchung2

A nice quilt made by the loving hands of a lovely lady.

Thank you, Robin for sharing this photo.

Best regards, Jason.

Bubble

This is a beautiful and original quilt, Robin, your mum was a lovely lady to make such special gifts.
I can see they are running pigs, but can't quite make out the words above the pigs? (❀ᴗ❀)

My sincere condolences on your loss. Your mother was clearly a lovely lady. Thank you for sharing this with us.

redina1

It's kind of sad to think of all the laughter they missed out on, Joe. Give your mom a big hug for me. Thanks, Bonnie, she was.

manicpuzzler

A beautiful and talented lady.

wjl1015

She does, just about any board game or card game!! :))

redina1

I think they would have, Joe, especially if your mom likes to play scrabble. :)

wjl1015

Sounds like our moms would have been best of friends! Very similar interests!

redina1

Thank you, nanab. I'm just so glad I got to see her at the end.

wjl1015

I am so sorry for your loss......

redina1

Yes it is. She was a huge fan. She gave this quilt to a friend who wrote on the back of the picture "You mean the world to me." My mom had that effect on a lot of people. Thanks.

nanab

This is a beautiful quilt and a beautiful mom. Photos are precious keepsakes redina1, I'm so happy for you that you have some and I thank you for sharing.

CathyTxDJ

Hugs to you, Redina, so sorry that you lost your Mom. Looks like she had a full life. Awesome quilt she made!
Is that an Arkansas Razorback?
