They are one-of-a kind... At a craft show one artist had a hand written poster on blackboard in front of her booth- l photod it- I think you'll appreciate it as l do: "Buying from an Artist" "when buying from an artist/maker, you're buying more than just an object. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks of pure joy. You aren't buying just a thing ! You're buying a piece of heart, a part of a soul, a moment of someone's life. Most importantly, you're buying the artist more time TO DO SOMETHING THEY'RE PASSIONATE ABOUT-" signed -UNKNOWN.
jean, I know what you mean about missing pieces. I have a "day job" and wear only my work. I often come home sans an item. I miss some/most of them! ;-]
That's more like the kind of thing l do- except l were them! Recently a woman bought one right off my neck at the library for $40, regretted she had no more money on her! Little did she know how happy she made me. The upshot was- l did not realize how much l liked the piece until l saw it on her... and l miss it more than l enjoyed spending the money.
I don't know how "better" is possible, Carole. I think quirky is part of the ideal definition for this kind of ornament. When you make another it should be different, but better is just a perception, not a measure. Make a few more and hang them separately when they go to market. ☺☺☺☺☺
