Why are you reporting this puzzle?

I am delighted to announce the return of the hedgehog!
I had a feeling he/she was back due to poop appearing on the path.
I thought hedgehogs ate slugs (of which there are many - gross) but apparently only when there is nothing else. Slugs carry lung worm which can kill hedgehogs so I have put lots of copper tape all around the hedgehog house. I tried it out on a slug tonight and they do not like it! Good.
The hedgehog can't have milk either. They are happy with meat cat and dog food - wet or dry. (not fish)
I buy special hedgehog food which it seems to enjoy in rather large amounts.
The hedgehog is looking good - rather on the chubby side!

We have a newly erected Bug Hotel https://www.jigidi.com/created.php?id=9F3CEK9Q but the lowest section has been left with just leaves and an entrance in the hopes a hedgehog will find a safe winter home there. We would consider it an honour too. I buy sunflower hearts by the 50lb sack and have a garden full of small feathered jewels, including lots of youngsters, which are a joy to see.

Brie1648

Thanks Tisketsmum. It always saddens me when you see them squashed on the road but what makes me livid is the cruelty of some people who treat them as footballs. They are harmless and I consider it an honour that this little hedgehog comes to my garden.

tisketsmum

Yay, well done Bren, they need all the help they can get.

Brie1648

he is cute and I hope he knows where he is safe. Hopefully he will make the hedgehog house his winter home

unicorn3

Awww, he/she is so cute. I love hedgehogs...........Wendy

marionugchelen

nice photo Brie, and hope he is staying around sometime☺

Brie1648

Slugs and wasps - no. I cut off a piece of the copper tape to see how the slugs react. Oh they did not like it one bit! It was hilarious to see them 'suck' back into themselves. There was not one anywhere near the hedgehog house so hopefully it will work.

Jumble

I think you are Filey's answer, you are wonderful with all animals and I can't see you ever turning any animal down for adoption Bren.

Brie1648

Fried?? Dried is what I should have written. Fried - LOL!

Brie1648

Oh hoglets! How wonderful would that be!

They can eat fried cat food munchies - he/she is looking pretty plump.

Yes, Irene - the sign still flashes above the house. Yesterday's rescue was a tiny toad. He has gone to live in the pond of the nice neighbour's over the fence. There is a limit - I am not Filey's answer to Gerald Durrell!!!

goingsilver

So pleased your delightful visitor has returned Bren. Chubby is good for a hedgehog with hibernation ahead I guess! I presume it is too late in the year for this to be a pregnant female?

Jumble

And why wouldn't he return Bren, the hedgehog has been watching all the other homeless animals enter your house and now living in luxury with you. I think you had better start thinking of a name for him/her.

6toedcats

Lol, looks like Purina Cat Chow to me, and the little fellow isn't going to stay little for long at your restaurant! ☺

Brie1648

Thank you both :o)
Probably about 8 - 9 inches long.
They are very wary. He stood absolutely still when I opened the box and the click of the camera made him jump.

Obby

Nice big fellow. Thanks for showing us Brie1648.

ladywil2

Wow he is pretty big
