This is part of the bore field collecting high pressure steam from multiple bores drilled from 600 m (2,000 ft) to 1,500 m (5,000 ft). The hot water is discarded (that sign says "Scalding Water") and the steam piped to a power station where turbines convert it into 175 MW of "green" electricity. Commissioned late 50's/ 1962. There are several other power stations similar in general terms.
