Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area is owned by the State of Utah and managed by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources. It is located in the Blacksmith Fork Canyon, about 15 mi east of Hyrum, Utah. Rocky Mountain elk are fed here through the winter to prevent them from coming to inhabited areas further down the canyon in search of food. Horse-drawn sleigh rides and a visitor center are offered from mid December to February.

Thanks for everyone's comments. Pat, that is so funny and there is sometimes a lot of truth in it.

I've got a funny elk story for you. The old cowboy (and other) actor Slim Pickens walked into the Colorado Fish & Game office with a bunch of buddies years ago and stepped up to the counter.

In his big drawl he said, "Young Lady, I want you to sell me a camel huntin' license."
The young lady stammered, "I, I, I can't sell you a camel hunting license."
He said, "Whhyyyyy not?"
She said, "Well.......there are no camels in Colorado."
He said, "Well you been sellin' me a elk huntin' license for three years, and I ain't never seen a elk in Colorado!"

Awesome animals!!! New England had problems, years ago, as the Elk and Moose could literally pass through the rock walls. The herds had to be thinned at one point. They are incredibly strong creatures. Thank you for the special puzzle and so long ago remembered memories :-)))))

Massive animal.
