Thanks Irene.

No Ken, if it happened now, you would know what to do, instinct, you never forget.

I was a young pup back then. Didn't know $h1t then and definitely not now. But when Katrina hit I lost track of so many friends, as they scattered to the winds. It still irks me that there were promisses made and not kept. I would have been in the way now. Back then I was a .......

You are definitely someone I would like to have around in an emergency Ken. That is so good of you to volunteer, it's wonderful how the community comes together in crisis. With the hurricanes and tornadoes you get in the USA, I'm sure your help will be needed again.

Camile was similar to Katrina. It hit the Gulf coast, mostly Mississippi and Alabama. I volunteered to go rescue lives and possessions, and spent 3 weeks there doing what I could. It was the dirtiest, dangerous and most rewarding thing I did. I made friends, fell in love with that laid back style of life.
I swam, waded, and stank from the flood waters. Pulled out farm equipment, cars, snakes, gators and dug drainage ditches, whatever was needed. The waters stained you, the smell clung to you, like a skunk that never quite went away. I loved every second of it. I would do it all again no questions asked.

I'm not familar with Camile Ken, but it's good to see you online, I was getting worried about you young man.

klocowolf

Reminds me of Camile.

I think that's more in the North of England and Scotland Dave, I know that only from what our reps told me. Here in the South our Spring and Summers are usually good.

djp

Somehow I don't see that for England -- my "pictures" in my mind are of overcast drizzling rain !! Never been there, probably from movies over the years !!

Jumble

It's amazing how that happens Dave, same thing happened to me, last week I was driving along a long road, looking ahead everything was blurry, I carried on for 50 metres, torrential rain, turned a corner, nothing but dry roads.

djp

Well, it happened !! On the way home from San Diego yesterday, just entering north Rosarito, I ran into a violent squall. Flooded the roadways, couldn't see much it was so heavy !! Then 5 minutes later and near my home, clear sky and sunshine !!
