Did you know that the original basketball rules did not include dribbling?

Players could only pass the ball without moving with it, a stark contrast to today's high-speed, dribble-driving game.

Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891. Tasked with creating an indoor game to keep his students at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, active during the cold winter months, Naismith developed a game involving a soccer ball and two peach baskets as goals. The objective was simple: score points by throwing the ball into the opposing team's net mounted on the wall.

This beginning spawned a sport that rapidly evolved and spread worldwide!

The game's simplicity and the minimal equipment required made it accessible and popular across different cultures and communities. By 1936, basketball was included as an Olympic sport in Berlin, cementing its status on the international stage.

So, are you up for a quick game of basketball?
