"This sandwich aspires to distill all of my most favorite memories of picnicking in Europe into one easy, transportable dish. All of the key players are here: fresh, yeasty baguette; plenty of brie, bien sur; flavorful, salty prosciutto, for a bit of staying power; fresh, peppery arugula; and a generous smear of fig compote for a touch of sweetness. This sandwich is easy to assemble, and can be thrown together ahead of time. Simply wrap it up, grab yourself a fruity drink or bottle of wine, and head out on your adventure. When hunger hits, find yourself a nice, comfortable spot and indulge in this most delicious picnic sandwich – bonus points if you close your eyes for a minute and imagine yourself in Paris, or Marseille!"

I love prosciutto. I have a nephew who opened a restaurant for an upscale lunch and dinner clientelle called The Upper Crust. He sent me one of his very fancy laminated menus, 8 pages long with lots of colorful print and color photos. I took a wax pencil and edited the errors for him. There were more than 30 of them, including half a dozen misspellings of prosciutto, FOUR DIFFERENT WAYS! He called me. I could practically hear tears in his voice. “Uncle Pat, I already bought 500 of these menus!”

@Fowly -- you are an utter sweetheart. Thank you. I know you've been at this site for a while and have all the coolest friends. I'm off to bed, but perhaps will see you tomorrow. :)

Fowly

Oh yes, I went and bought "fish & chips" for my dinner......most enjoyable. F.

Fowly

Hi Mischka, I googled your name as invited and think you are one talented, smart little lady. I like seeing you solving nanab and hippos' puzzles. You are enjoying yourself among us, it's all good fun with good friends.....see you , Fay.

Mischka

Always good to see you, Fay. :-)

Fowly

I thought rolling your rrrrrs was Scottish not Spanish. These sandwiches do look delicious, but why the obsession with food? Food, glorious food!!!! Time for dinner, now what will I have. Plenty of food for thought here! But I need to eat...not think. LOL. Thanks Mischka. Fay.

Donnajames

Mischka

Lol. My sister can roll her R's, though she doesn't speak much Spanish. I have a large Spanish vocabulary, but can't pronounce it all correctly.

Donnajames

Huh???? Trill my tongue??? Is it scared of something I don't know about??

Mischka

And I have a sudden feeling that I've posted this before. But I hope people will enjoy it.

Can you trill your tongue? :-) I never learned how.

Donnajames

Oh! Oh! Oh! This sound so heavenly!!! Taste buds are all aflutter! :-))
