They don't do that anymore either. :( patsquire 8 September 2017 Ah yes, we saw that big parade once, too! And they also loaded all the wagons and cages onto flatbed train cars and we saw it at a stop in Appleton, WI. The streets were crowded and we had to park blocks away and walk but it was worth it! They even played the calliope. :-) chickster 8 September 2017 Yes Pat, sorry I missed it as a child. I did get to see the big Circus Parade in Milwaukee, Wisc. about 22 yrs ago. Everything in the parade was pulled by an animal. It was a 2 hr. parade and the best parade I have ever seen. I felt like a kid again! :) patsquire 6 September 2017 Hi chickaroonio. Try thinking about it like this. Would those animals rather be protected, well fed and loved by their trainers, or out on their own in the wild getting hunted by man and beast, without shelter, cold, rained on and having to hunt for their own food? Maybe circus life isn't so bad. At least in America and Europe. And I can't believe you've never been to the circus! I've seen some totally amazing things over the years. Totally amazing. chickster 5 September 2017 I know what you mean Plumpy!I have NEVER been to a circus, pat. Always wanted to as a child. After seeing how animals were transported, caged and thinking about their working lives, it makes me sad. :( patsquire 4 September 2017 About ten years ago the circus came to Birmingham in the summer and I asked my (older) bridge partner if she wanted to go. She LOVED the circus so we went to a matinee performance. It was an absolute sea of rugrats. It was a fun time but a big mistake. We both got colds! Plumpossum 4 September 2017 The demise of the circus was long overdue and elicits no tears from me. Why this advertisement?
