Why are you reporting this puzzle?

I love just taking photos and get a bit restless when the weather is too bad to go out (I'm a fair weather photographer mostly) so I picked this flower out from the bunch to see what kind of photo I could come up with.

So good to hear tisketsdad is on the mend. Also that you're staying put. Good call. Hope Tisket is keeping a close watch on you both! LOL ;-))
As for the judge, I'm with you. The translucent petals give the flower an ethereal look that draws the eye in. IMHO I think that would likely have been lost/overshadowed had the intensity of the white been increased (and become more of the focus).

tisketsmum

Thanks dhi, you're quite welcome.

tisketsmum - Glad to hear that husband on the mend and the both of you are self-isolating. Good call all around.
Frankly, I think the delicacy of the petals is what makes this photograph quite lovely, thank you.

tisketsmum

Well, as you may already know, our trip has been postponed because tisketsdad had a bad chest infection and wasn't fit ti travel :-(( He is much improved (after 10 days antibiotics and 5 days steroids) but is still quite weak and tires easily. Given that he was already in a high risk group (75 and asthmatic) we are now self-isolating for the duration and hope we can avoid him getting Covid-19.
The judge quite liked my image but thought I could have given the white of the flower a bit more ooomph, 17 marks out of a possible 20. Personally I quite liked the delicateness of the flower as it is.

;))
Have a good trip.

Thanks for your support everybody. The competition isn't until 10th of next month (when tisketsdad and I will be in Tobago) so will let you all know when I find out.

Please do let us know.

Wow, this is a great picture and the dark backdrop works wonderfully well to show this lovely white tulip to great advantage, tisketsmum. To me it's an absolute winner. Good luck. Please do let us know how you get on. ☺♥☺♥

Thanks Nancy, yes it was fun to photograph. I needed to come up with something for a camera club internal competition and our weather has been dire lately. Very grey and very wet and not at all photogenic. So I bought myself a bunch of double white tulips and once they'd opened up I chose this one. I have a tabletop mini-studio set up so chose the black background, lit by a series of LED lights. Competition isn't until next month so I don't know what the judge thinks of it yet.
Thanks Marilyn, I'm quite pleased with it myself ☺☺☺

canoekaw

I agree a gorgeous photo.

calluna

Gorgeous...looks ethereal and, yes, like feathers. Reminds me of those intricate botanical prints. Bet you had fun photographing it. :-))

You're welcome Nillie ♥♥♥

nillie

Very impressive!! Only two basic colors (in fact, almost no colors at all - just complete contrast), and perfect result. Thanks tisketsmum♥♥

tisketsmum

Thanks Betty.

Beautiful, tisketsmum!!!

tisketsmum

The "double tulip" had almost translucent petals and I agree they do look quite like feathers. Thanks for looking.

liertje1978

The tulip almost looks like feathers ☺
