This week's Jigidi theme is "Automobiles", so I made these kaleidoscopes from images of Thailand's ubiquitous Tuk Tuks!! Pronounced as "took took" because of the sound of their motorcycle two-stroke engines, they are described as "auto rickshaws", and are found in many countries, not just Thailand. But that is where I've had personal experience of them. In Thailand, they are EVERYWHERE, and the drivers tout for business by saying "transport?" to you, and making wildly exaggerated gestures of steering a car. Much to their amusement, I usually answer them with "I already have transport", and point to my legs! LOL For those of you who have never heard of Tuk Tuks, here's a link to the Wikipedia entry for them:

The images I use are freely available on the internet. And I use a variety of programs to make my kaleidoscopes, colour the backgrounds and assemble them into a collage. All of which takes around 2 hours.

It gives me immense pleasure making them, and I hope it gives you pleasure solving them. :-)

I'm glad you loved it Jan, 'cos I did too!! I think there are variations on the tuk tuk theme. I don't think they are all the same. But I think they have in common that they're small! Glad you enjoyed this one. :)))

LOVED this puzzle! So very beautiful!! (the fact that I was the fastest - - for a bit - - isn't the reason). It is an amazing theme puzzle. Who had any idea that you could make such beautiful kaleidos from Tuk Tuks? As a side note, our daughter, when working at a hospital in Haiti, often took a Tuk Tuk out into the country. But, it looked completely different - more truckbed-like and not so pretty. It is interesting that the name has transferred to different types of vehicles in different countries. Thanks so much, Kirsten!!

I'm so happy that you enjoyed this one so much, Ardy!! Solving all four sizes is a great compliment. I really like how it came out too. I was racking my brains for "colourful cars" when I found out what the weekly theme was. Duncan had a good suggestion - the Partridge Family bus! Which was OK for one, or maybe two kaleidos. But I couldn't get 4 distinctly different kaleidos out of it. So when I had my tuk tuk brainwave, I was VERY happy. And I really like how the headlights came through in these. Anyway, blah, blah. blah.

I hope you're feeling a lot better. I think you must be, to be making kaleidos and solving three sizes. And hope you have a wonderful day. Take care. And ((HUGS))

Oh, what fun for a Monday morning (for me). I'll bookmark the biggest one for later. I love having a few of your big puzzles for slow days. Thank you, thank you, thank you. (I think I forgot to say it on the other puzzles. Sowwy.) I love what you do ... and you. Have a night even more wonderful than these puzzles with the best of relaxing and pleasant dreams. Loving ((HUGS))

I thought you might like a tuk tuk Robbie! Although I suspect that you would much prefer them in kaleido format than real-life! LOL Although come to think of it - they could be just the thing for tootling around Bermuda! LOL

And Ardy saw those men in the top left too! But you know that those shark teeth, and the sparkling diamonds are the headlights!! I love how they came through. I'm so pleased to hear that you enjoyed it. :)))

That is just fascinating Kirsten, to think these jewels came from those ugly machines! I 'tuk' my time to "savour the flavour" and had an enjoyable time. You have quite an array here, men with orange trousers and blue shirts looking for their upper bodies with other little men balancing between upper left. Sharks teeth upper right and sparkling diamonds glittering all over the place!! Great puzzle, thanks.
