Why are you reporting this puzzle?

The Doubling Point Lighthouse is located on the lower Kennebec River. The lighthouse is set at the on the west side of Arrowsic Island, roughly opposite the mouth of Winnegance Creek. The light station includes a tower, keeper's house, shed, and oil house. The tower is an octagonal wood frame structure, finished in wooden shingles, with an iron walkway around the lantern chamber. It is accessed via a three-span footbridge.

The city of Bath, located north (upriver) from this point, had been a major shipbuilding port for much of the 19th century, and the river was a major transportation artery all the way to Augusta. In 1892 the river below Bath was identified by the United States Lighthouse Board as needing improved navigational aids, and a series of improvements were authorized. Funding was made available by Congress in 1895, and Doubling Point Light was built in 1898, along with the keeper's house and shed.

Thanks, dondi. I figured I was wrong about it.

"Doubling Point" is named because it marks a spot in the Kennebec River where ships have to take two successive right-angle turns. At Doubling Point Lighthouse, ships southbound to the sea from Bath have to turn sharp left (east). Arrowsic Island isn't obviously an island; it's huge, and looks like part of a delta. This lighthouse is on a southwest tip on the northern part of the island. This particular picture is looking west to the far side of the river, and that's a sunset.

Really gorgeous! After admiring the lighthouse and beautiful colors in the sky, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out if it was a sunset or a sunrise. Since your information states this sits on the west side of the island, I'm going to guess it's a sunrise on the eastern side. But I'm probably wrong ! : (

It is a rugged coastline there, Shirley, at least in places. But beautiful. Thanks for the comment.

Amazingly the reflection is almost more beautiful than the sky itself, the lovely lighthouse has to play second fiddle really. Thanks Dave

Gorgeous sky behind this lovely old lighthouse, Maine has a lot of lighthouses then they need them from pictures I've seen on Jigidi, there is a lot of rocks near the shore lines. Thanks, Dave.
