I've just removed my previous search comment for Sue, for we finally got the answer what has happened to her & I'm so very sorry for her loss.

My condolances & heart goes out to her dear familie & friends.
She was a very kindheartted & loving person & she will be missed so very very much.

ESL is a program for anyone who has immigrated to the US and is seeking (or has just acquired) citizenship. Here in Texas, most of our immigrants are from Mexico, Central America, and South America. My group consists mostly of Mexicans, with one from Colombia, and one from Korea.

English as 2nd language...what is the 1st, or are there multiple languages? Wonderful that you're doing this. The girl was after my own heart. Kudos to you, kshastings! ~ Christy

I think Harvard has the original pic. I'm using the book with the English as a Second Language group that I lead. They love the story too; they fell a connection to him, but also to the girl, who is, as they are, a stranger in a strange land.
